- Delivered a very solid wall bracket is included
- Important to be able to record to PC-independent, is the card slot for a SD card
- The installation and commissioning is self-explanatory and easy despite only English instruction, even the wireless connection worked right off the bat
- The image quality equivalent gehobenerem WebCam standard and is therefore sufficiently well
- The web interface can be set also in German and is kept as simple (except for a few exceptions, that later)
- To the camera, there is in addition to configuration via web interface also has a so Surveillance Software, a special monitoring software that allows to manage multiple cameras and control (in the style of a monitoring center)
Now for the negative aspects of the camera and as I said, these relate to the application that you want to monitor a specific object by motion sensor. I had already updated the camera's firmware to version 1.9, the recording should be done on a 2GB SD card. The importance of setting options in this regard were extremely misleading and could be resolved by using the Edimax a support (by the way very quickly responded via e-mail and was helpful) only.
After that, the same problem as with the previous speaker was, the camera always takes a completely useless "advance" on that subsequent important recording, however, is clearly too short. As a result, you then within a short time several hundred 10sec long video snippets that you can then all look individually by.
Here's another weakness of the web interface comes into play, there is no way all the files in one go to the hard drive to transfer, simply right-click on the individual file and "Save Target As". In my case that is forced to pick up ladder, take the SD card from the camera and then drag the files via card reader on your PC, here are the files you can then complete at least look at my playlist on the VLC player. The button "Delete all" in web interface seems to have no function, you have one page completely mark the video files and then click "Delete", with about 600 files of 20 files per page displayed a time-consuming process, all in all very awkward.
The problems associated with file handling could possibly be solved even by firmware update in the future, the issue of recording time is on the other hand, according to Edimax Support System-conditioned as this is limited by the built-in buffer memory on the camera and the camera is not in is able to use the SD card as a buffer. For me, this is not quite understand alledings because it on the other side, too, the possibility is timed to stream via FTP for example on a NAS drive, and so yes gets longer recordings back.
Conclusion:
As a PC-independent surveillance camera only limited use, for all other purposes use a very solid and user friendly unit at a very reasonable price.
