At the first use I rose with almost full battery in my car one, closed the iPhone into the cigarette lighter, launched the navigation and drove off. To my great surprise came forward after a while the iPhone with the indication that the battery is now arrived at 20%. I checked all the contacts in this respect but could not detect any errors. So I pulled the plug out of the iPhone, put it back in, and lo and behold, now we went with the battery capacity back up. On the way back, this game was repeated.
Although the battery icon of the iPhone indicates a fully charged battery and an open connection to a power source (plug), so will discharge the battery. Apparently invites this Belkin adapter therefore only until the battery of the connected device is recognized as fully and then then provides the electronic charge and turns off. A trickle charge mode, there is not apparently.
Thus, this part is to charge an empty battery Although ideally suited for power supply in continuous operation, it is not at all to use by the charging electronics unfortunately.
So if you like me looking for a solution for long-term power of his iPhone or iPod, so as not to discharge the battery during longer car journeys: Stay away! Does not so (unless you stand on it while driving often times "plug out, plug back in," to play)!
