It is a small piece of plastic that has been offered by Canon to such a huge price that a cheap provider it presumably also can earn a fortune. Good for him.
The sun visor fits very well on my EF-S 18-135, I have to screw but powerless as possible, otherwise it will not clean engages into the thread - under certain circumstances is the build quality of the original Canon-yes but then a little better ...
You can see the sun visor way also "upside down" screw, which reduces the length of the lens again and you have the Aperture anyway at hand.
I am happy!
