For a better overview first followed by the short version
I have the camera to test Mark at a major electronics, especially with respect to the known autofocus problem. The first model (sample) was afflicted with the problem, the second still in their original packaging 70 was flawlessly d. I then bought a logical manner.
After 500 test Aufahmen I'm really happy, even enthusiastic about the auto focus. Image quality is also great for the APS-C sensor, as well as the noise performance to ISO 6400, higher ISO values can be described only as a last resort. Here, the full-frame (significantly) better. Handling fine and clear Mode Dial -Which me at the 60 d no matter how many times has annoyed.
All in all, a great camera, which clearly in some models has an autofocus problem.

Tested lenses in terms of autofocus (via viewfinder mid autofocus area compared to the live view):
Canon EF 85 f / 1.8, EF 200 L f / 2.8, 18-55 STM kit lens, EF 24-105 L f / 4.0, EF 400 L f / 5.6 and Tamron 70-300 f / 4.0-5.6 Di VC USD , The autofocus problem occurred only at the EF 85 f / 1.8 and the EF 200 L f / 2.8 on a large aperture, from about 3.5 to 4.0 autofocus was "normal" again, as in the live view. Consequently, it appears in my view only with large aperture. So who is testing with Aperture 6.3 will notice nothing, as well as diverse - not necessarily high-intensity - kit lenses are not suitable for testing. I consider myself a very serious amateur, but think so that I know exactly how a camera works, so I can emphatically confirm the focus problem ... hope the Canon reads and finally reacted in this regard ... I just wanted 3 stars awarded, a camera full points and the first null points. However, I am now so excited about the 70 d that there are yet become 5 star.
Direct predecessor with me was the 60d and I regret the exchange for a second. Improvements:
Autofocus via viewfinder !!! Had long flirted with the 7D, because the 60 d not quite up to my expectations, I had bought a 5 "action" camera to my EOS D Mark 2, but "experiencing" no significant improvement in performance. The 7 d me at the time was still too expensive and too heavy compared to 60 d.
Image quality: Mild, but significant improvement for 60 d, but not compared to the 5d mark 2 ...
Autofocus via Life-view: Since Dan are still worlds apart all previous models, here is my "beloved" 5d mark 2 see that. Fast, precise and silent, even acceptable at 24-105 L, silently of course, only with the STM lenses.
Handling: Mode Dial is finally clear and can be rotated without limitation. In the 60 d was the exchange between films and the - use very often from me Custom Program - always annoying ...
Furthermore, the additional button for configuring the autofocus is solved prima the trigger next to the upper dial, you can also configure the autofocus fields when looking through the viewfinder is still dissolved nice for quick changes.
Touchscreen: Who needs it ... at first I thought, now I use it more frequently, especially when you zoom in the image viewer.

Before I want to digress too far anyone who hesitates whether to buy this camera only encourage: test (only with Aperture 2.8 or greater) and then buy. I hesitated too long for my circumstances and me, even with many alternatives of Nikon (D 7100, no swivel display, too slow), Sony (Alpha 77, image quality slightly worse and electronic viewfinder, lens selection less) or Olympus (OMD EM 1 busy too expensive for me, and continuous autofocus is too slow for me (Wildlife birds)), or the Panasonic GH 3 (see Olympus), now I am very happy with the 70 d!
