When I acquired my Nikon D5000, I had the choice between the kit 18-55 + 55-200 (together with the Nikkor 18-200 is too expensive for me) and Tamron solution. In fact, I bought a box next to the D5000 with his 18-55 goal because this set was in England less than the bare case in France. I've added the Tamron 18-200 for the purpose of not having to change lenses in the field. Being accustomed previously to a bridge with a 38-380 mind, I was afraid of not being able to do the same photos with "only" 200. In practice, this seems for the moment not a handicap. Indeed, given the much higher definition of SLR, it is always possible to trim detail wanted to get a similar result, see higher. Another point that bothered me, the minimum distance of 45cm development while my bridge taking photos a few centimeters from the lens. I have less recoil to judge but I think that the above reasoning should be applicable in the same way. I am still skeptical about the term "macro" zoom with this greater distance minimum MAP! The fact remains that this goal is a solution-road, allowing for wide shots as pictures of detail with very respectable quality and above all for a very reasonable price (less than 200). This is essential for me that moves a lot and grapeshot at all costs. So we can always find fault comparing to much more expensive models, but for me and discover the SLR, it suits me perfectly. There will be time looking back on the experience to turn to more sophisticated models but knowingly given the prices!
