Omega Rubin - More than just a remake

If you had told me a year ago, as I would be to the new times of Pokémon times, I would have explained the person in charge might be crazy. Back then, I had only the three games of the first generation and could start virtually nothing with the other five generations. The anime I have sometime just not followed, and if I do it again like got on Pokémon, just the blue edition of the Game Boy Pocket was again unpacked.
Last year, games and remakes of almost all other generations to the Blue Edition have joined. The current anime has, unlike then though only visual changes, but since I only once can take time for a week and he to is primarily there to market the games, this is not so tragic. Although I would not have thought a year ago that I write the times, but the sixth generation has become my favorite - and this trend continues with Omega Rubin. In this game is a remake for Ruby Version, which was conceived over a decade ago for the Game Boy Advance. In the following points I will explain the game a little more. I apologize already for possible spoilers.

Point 1: The Hoenn region
After we've ever done X and Y for the first time in a European region, it goes back to Japan again in Omega Rubin. The Hoenn region is likely to be older fans still well known from the third generation and the corresponding games. At the same time attracted Ash, Maike, Brock and Max in the anime through the different cities, routes, forests and water routes of the region. The Hoenn region still holds the record for most water routes within a Pokémon game, what makes VMs as surfers, divers or cascade indispensable. Who still knows the Hoenn region from the third generation, is most easily recognize here. Only Mauville City might initially be some problems, because the city has been completely rebuilt and expanded.

Point 2: The character
Since the Crystal Edition, it is common that you have to inform the professor of each generation at the beginning of the game, whether you are male or female. Here nothing has changed compared to ruby ​​and sapphire. Male Characters slip back into the role of Brix, while female characters may control the known from the anime character of Maike through the Hoenn region. The character that was not selected is automatically rivals.

Point 3: The goals of the game
This is likely to be the only point that has changed hardly ever since the first generation. The aim of the game is primarily to gather the eight medals, challenge the Pokémon League and to complete the Pokédex from Professor Birk. Incidentally, there is again the opportunity to participate in various competitions. Compared to ruby ​​and sapphire, these were finally brought up so that they are more than just one stop in between. So the character slips now, for example, in a specially designed suit for the competition and gets the current champion, a true role model supplied. In addition to the whole exercise will include the sinister machinations of Team Magma, however, be strong again in the foreground.

Point 4: The Pokémon
The number of Pokémon was then extended to 386 copies by the Hoenn region. Primarily, the remakes are based of course on their predecessors. For this reason, you can early in the game and here again between the starters Treecko (Plant), select Torchic (fire) and Mudkip (water). Over a certain period of time can be found no further developments here. But once you have all eight Orders, obtained from Professor Birk national Pokédex, which - as the name suggests - including all six previous regions. The whole thing ended up going so far that you can still each can choose a starter from Johto, Sinnoh and Unova itself.
It should also be noted that the in the sixth generation newly introduced type "Fee" is of course also present in Omega Rubin and that the attacks that are new to come in the meantime, here can also be learned and used now.

Item 5: Pika - Pikachu
It does not matter how many Pokémon will follow - Pikachu will always be the Pokémon with the highest level of awareness. This fact, developers have used to take a detail from the yellow edition. For this reason, you have ensured that Pikachu is not simply appears here with his usual sound, but actually says his name - with the original voice of Ikue tani! This extra, there was already in X and Y.
Especially cute, I find the new artwork to Pikachu. In addition to the ordinary Pikachu, that we all know, there is now also a rocker Pikachu, a ladies Pikachu, a star Pikachu, a professorial Pikachu and Wrestlers Pikachu.

Item 6: Specific Edition and not available Pokémon
In Omega Rubin there are the following Pokémon not catch: Omanyte, Amoroso, Lugia, Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Sableye, Seviper, Lunatone, Latias, Kyogre, Cranidos, Rampardos, Shellos, Gastrodon, Dialga, Karadonis, Galapaflos, Karippas, Thundurus , Zekrom, Scampisto and Wummer.
These Pokémon have to resort to other editions or swap transactions in order to transport them in Omega Rubin can. However, Nintendo has here at certain intervals of events in which you can download to Pokémon and pick up the next Pokémon Center.

Item 7: Latios and the AEON Flute
You had to cut down in the past generations still many hours of play around the ears, even to see a legendary Pokémon, you come here no longer around it to take at least one copy. But that's not all: A little bit later you get from Troy called Aeon flute that allows the player to fly to Latios on the Hoenn region. Here you can not just fly from A to B, as it is otherwise always been the case, but can actually control his character over the entire region. Landen can however only in places that you have already visited.

Item 8: The Fight
On the journey through many cities and routes of the players will naturally back often challenged by other trainers and wild Pokemon battle. It is virtually impossible, the team is not optimal to train. But again, wait again some surprises and new features for the player - at least if he has neither X nor Y angetestet. There is therefore now also here the mass meetings, where you have to take it at the same time with up to five Pokémon. It is advisable to use attacks that inflict all Pokémon at once damage.
In addition, one can say that one is practically safe anywhere. Wild Pokémon lurking now in the air, coach will now fight underwater and Pokémon now also show up outside the fighting. It happens not infrequently that a Pokémon appearing in the high grass, and it is recognized by its typical call. Here it is important to the copy carefully and slowly to approach, so it does not flee. Because it fits quite well that one with the cursor now can bring to sneak his character.
What I liked in the fighting with wild Pokémon especially, is the novelty that the Pokémon used now finally receive experience points when you've caught the wild Pokémon - a fact which has already been used in X and Y.

Item 9: mega-developments
As in X and Y there is the possibility to carry out so-called mega-developments. Previously there were only 26 different Pokémon with a mega form. For Omega Alpha Saphir Rubin and this number was boosted again. With Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Bibor, Pidgeot, Alakazam, Lahmus, Gengar, Kangama, Pinsir, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Mewtwo, Ampharos, Steelix, Scizor, Heracross, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Sceptile, Blaziken, Sumpex, Gardevoir, Sableye, Mawile , Aggron, Medicham, Manectric, Sharpedo, Camerupt, Altaria, Banette, Absol, Glalie, Salamence, Metagross, Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, Schlapor, Garchomp, Lucario, Abomasnow, Gallade, ear But and Diancie can now a total of 46 different Pokémon a Mega -Development perform. Item 10: PokéMonAmi
This term is a portmanteau of the words "Pokémon" and "mon ami", which translates as "my friend" means. This is a special feature that lets you stroke his Pokémon, feed with Pofflés or can motivate them to three different games (Beerenernte, Header and puzzle plates). This function is to be regarded not only as a pure fun, but also an important factor to strengthen the bond between the player and his Pokémon. Tame Pokémon react in the fight much better than suspicious Pokémon. On top of that Eevee next to a learned Fee attack also needs two hearts confidence to assume the shape of its latest development Feelinara. A nice extra that finally gives the player the opportunity to become better acquainted with his Pokémon. I honestly had even hoped, that you would convey this function in the two remakes.

Item 11: A Helping map
Although the menu was only slightly, but all the more extended in their function better. Besides PokéMonAmi and Supertraining there are two different cards that you can use. A map shows the area with its various cities and towns, as well as the player's current location. This card was previously found in all generations and is no longer a novelty. However, there is now finally a map which shows the players who wild Pokémon there to catch on the route, on which it is located just. If you have captured all the available Pokémon appear on this card a crown with a corresponding note. This simple but all the more useful Extra helps that the completion of the Pokédex 'can be done much faster than usual.

Item 12: The level of difficulty
And with this I would be arrived at only shortcoming of the game: As in X and Y of the difficulty is simply far too low, even though he was raised in comparison with the mentioned playing back to a minimum. I remember times when I am running for weeks by the Victory Road to mobilize my Pokémon for the top four. I remember fighting in arena battles where I went at the end on the gums. I remember markets where I have spent thousands of dollars on various potions, healers and animators. That's not necessary in Ruby and Omega Alpha Saphir. By EP-divider value obtained early in the game and its use compared to the previous generations is not so extremely time-consuming, his team can already make very early in the game as good as unbeatable. The fights are in places almost too easy. If the opposing Pokémon no accident the ability "robustness" feature, they are defeated in most cases after only one attack. Of course, the games are designed for a younger audience, which is why you should not start too high frustration tolerance. But a bit more difficult if you had the fighting can do already. If you have no interest in a loose walkthrough, you should take the EP-divider so better.
The low level of difficulty also applies to the puzzles that you must solve during the trip. How loud I then swore when I have been wanting ridiculous three steps in order to get the VM03 surfers in the Safari Zone can. Here you get the helping attacks practically thrown at and always paid at the appropriate moment. But that was already the case in the predecessors of the two remakes.

Point 13: The graph
If the simple spatial representations of the first generations you stick again in mind that, what you can see here, almost remarkably realistic. Sometimes you felt as if you ended up in the anime and the game would have already left. The Pokémon are no longer motionless images, but animated characters that carry out their attacks not only realistic, but also cringe when they are taken. The figures speak, gesturing, happy about victories, defeats and resent live together with their Pokémon under one roof. The cities are so rich in detail equipped, that sometimes you will actually have to look at a sight. Solely the 3D effect is in my view not necessarily all the rage, so I turned it off.
My secret favorite here is the awakening of Groudon, which almost gives the domestic cinema room atmosphere.

Item 14: The Soundtrack
The soundtrack is based on the songs of the editions ruby ​​and sapphire. For someone like me, who has never been satisfied with the sound on the Game Boy Advance, the new setting is a treat. This edition should be played in any case with sound. Finally the soundtrack perfectly accompanies every situation. Especially the fights against the eight Gym Leaders, members of Team Magma and Marc lead locally to the fact that you get goosebumps. Sometimes it even happens that I intentionally prefer the battles against the persons listed in the length in order to listen to the music longer can.

15: Delta episode
Even if you have managed to be undisputed champion of the Pokémon League, are still pending some challenges. This point runs like a red thread through the various editions and generations. But while after the main story earlier have been on the program only a few legendary Pokémon and lots of training, the to-do list this time is much longer. The fate of the world is namely again at stake. Armageddon can at this point salute, for the earth is threatened by a huge meteorite from outer space. Just the right job for the new champion of the Pokémon League! But even apart from that, there are still plenty to do. The gameplay is exploited here to every nook and cranny.

Pokémon continues to hold what it promises. The whole package is so perfect that my few criticisms are still far too weak to draw even one star here. The interaction between the graphics, the soundtrack, the players, the innovations and the new loving character is so well done that I can not imagine how you want everything to improve again. We'll see what the future holds. But I can fully engage in the Games of the sixth generation currently.
