On PC useful with DVI output, not the KVM switch

I had bought this converter to connect my old monitor with VGA input to a KVM switch (UDV-TA2) with DVI output. The onboard graphics of my PC has VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs. The monitor I had been directly connected via VGA. The converter should be a temporary solution until I had bought myself a new monitor with DVI input.

Here in brief my experiences with the converter:

- At the DVI port of the PC (onboard graphics) without additional power supply used.

- The KVM switch, an additional power supply using the enclosed USB cable is required.

- The picture quality is by automatic adjustment of the monitor very well (no blurring, usually no flicker). A previously performed manual adjustment of clock and phase of the monitor had not been successful.

- In some programs (eg HxD) flickers the image horizontally in a limited vertical range. This occurs, for example, when the first pixel column contained the color value (255,255,240) and the subsequent columns (220,220,220). Apparently, the synchronization of the converter will be irritated by certain color sequences.

- On the 2nd day of Verwedung the KVM switch the monitor no picture showed after starting Windows. Only after manually switching back and forth to the KVM switch, an image was displayed again *.

- On the 3rd day of Verwedung the KVM switch has no image appears after a manual toggle the KVM switch *.

*) Although the monitor showed when booting and also during start of Windows images, but no more after switching to the resolution 1280 x 1024/60 Hz. The image flickered and showed only the monitor, a message that he more no signal have. Gegentest: A connected directly to the KVM switch DVI monitor worked fine.

- Conclusion (based on my application): On PC with DVI output useful, the KVM switch is not.
