Rich Roll decides one night before his 40th birthday, that something has to change radically in his life. In fact, he has the perfect life, a great wife, great kids, a great career and thus achieved prosperity. But physically he realizes that he simply no longer the fittest. It is not enough simply to make him a bit more sport and a healthier diet, no, he will quickly become a vegetarian, then a vegan and seeks ambitious athletic goal: Ultraman. This is a special type of triathlon, swim in the 10km, 421km driven wheel and run 84km. Hammer hard right? At the time of his decision, he has half a year to train it.
The story begins with a Preface, where you will be catapulted the reader directly into the second day of the race, and indeed to a nasty fall, which can not bode well. Whether it nevertheless creates at the end of the finish Rich I do not take time in advance. Only this: If only the Preface had drawn me into its spell, so I prefer did not want to put the book down. Unfortunately, I really only came in the subway to read, but looked forward to each trip and could not wait any further.
The first chapter begins with said the evening before the 40th birthday and the development of the following days. The seventh chapter is devoted to complete the secret weapon of Rich, the plant power. He addresses both the health benefits for him as well as to the overall viability of a vegan diet. The environmental and ethical reasons, he traveled briefly. Although Rich came to veganism for health reasons, but is now also very much a proponent of ethical reasons for veganism.
The Appendix 1 at the end of the book is devoted to just the vegan diet. It shows you the basics on just this. Here Rich goes next questions, where to get certain vitamins and protein, on the principle of the alkaline diet, backgrounds to gluten, corn, sprouts and seedlings a.
In Appendix 2 a typical day or meal plan will be presented as well as strategies for eating away from home.
In the last part of the book, the Appendix 3, relevant sources, links, books and other information sources are mentioned. I was there to take one or the other tip.
Overall, the book is an incredibly motivating us inspiring book. I was fascinated by it, cast a spell and sustainably moved. Not zulesetzt the pleasant and exciting writing style makes it for me a very special book. Finding Ultra is no instruction on how to run an Ultraman, nor is written for people who are planning to run a. This is about far more than just the physical act of running. Rich Roll summarizes the in an interview very well together:
[It is] much more of a spiritual journey, a return to the heart, a return to a more authentic way of living in alignment with ones Soul Purpose. [It is about] finding that thing inside you That You Always Wanted to do and Determining a way to unlock it and unleash it, Whatever That is. Ultraman is only a metaphor for whatever that dream deferred Is that we all have that life Seems too busy to ever attend to.
I would hope very much that the book will be translated into other languages, especially German. I'd love to give the book my father and my uncle to read.
