Overall, I am satisfied with this device: easy to use, comprehensive (all auto mode to manual modes), reactive with good picture quality especially in low light, natural colors but small tendency to overexpose (easily corrected underexposure of 0.3EV). The objective is not very bright (it is already a feat considering the focal range available in such a small volume!) And his dive is not worth that of my Panasonic but it is very correct.
I could also compare it with the Sony HX10V my father: Sony is smaller, lighter, both built. It has a small handle facilitating its grip. However, some buttons are so small that handling errors are not uncommon ... Listed features, it is almost equivalent. As for the principal, namely the picture quality, I prefer the more natural rendering of Canon more artificial Sony (bright colors, effect "watercolor" visualization 1: 1 due to the very thorough treatment of the images) . Despite a higher definition display for the Sony (18mpx against 12mpx), the images it produces contain no more details. Canon of the files will be made less large than the Sony so you put more on the memory card.
In conclusion, this is a very good Canon compact and versatile device.
