One of the Boys on vinyl: A blessing for sound purists!

It is inconceivable that this album by Katy Perry comes. It is so rocky and has so little to do with the succession albums. Frivolous texts there on teenagedream even abound, but the synthetic proportion that can be attributed to successful producer Dr. Luke is much higher.
The present disk One of the Boys, Katy's first album which is under a major label (she has previously released music, but without success) is quite autonomous. It's perky, frivolous, refreshing - and not boring at all!
The opening number ONE OF THE BOYS named after the longplayer and give Katy's feelings to man's world. Because it does not really correspond to the stereotypes of a young woman and the alphabet can nachrülpsen, it means far, they pour out no femininity. This is ironic, when you Katys lascivious look and curvy body look at on the cover. But probably still too often you end up on the friendship rail when she finds a guy great, what's bothering her a little.
No wonder that she is experimenting with her sexuality, women kissing and she likes it anyway. With I Kissed A Girl Katy Perry is a genuine Evergreen succeeded in so many conservative mind has aroused in the United States. Something comes from a pastor's daughter, that will not do! With provocation Katy has always been able to gain attention.
But it also has a vulnerable side and shows that their enormous vocal organ can also serve for ballads. Waking up in VEGAS and Thinking of You are the prime examples of this.
A mixture of ballad and rock can be found in my personal face-tip self inflicted. The melodic arrangement carries an unusual note to melancholy in itself. Whenever she has won major heartache, she gets up and returns strengthened, although back with emotional scars. What the Popröhre Katy Perry is but for a superwoman!

One of the Boys is presented on a 2-LP set. The first black disc containing the twelve tracks on the album, the second a total of eight (!) Remixes for I Kissed a Girl and Hot N Cold. This can be heard truly, they seem to be just made for radio and expand ONE OF THE BOYS by a welcome dance component.
But it's still the album that knows how to captivate. Far from clipping or other sound deficits, we are happy to this vinyl in preference to the CD. We hear, for example every bass attack in One of the Boys significantly while the guitars remain undistorted and Katy's strong voice clear. Impressively, for example, the bass in I Kissed A Girl, walking in the chorus clean into the depths. Super, Pop should always be presented!
On top of that shows the disk cartridge at its best. They can be opened and contains inside all the production notes and lyrics. At present, the latter are omitted to be happy, regrettably this has happened at the Vinyl Edition to Teenage Dream.

--- Conclusion ---

Many critics would now that Katy Perry has released PRISM, say One of the Boys was the only true slice of it. Producer Dr. Luke would have recognized himself at a certain point and the last spark robbed her of individuality. Quite so radical about it one should not judge because trends for plastic pop are already identify in One of the Boys, you take the big hits I Kissed A Girl and Hot N Cold, where Dr. Luke has something mitgewerkelt.
But it is true that its production occurs increasingly to the fore and make this Katy write the brand uniformity on the forehead. Audible and catchy are Katy's works all. The makers who are behind her, knowing what they do, but most of the substance is found only on ONE OF THE BOYS. Your frivolous journey into the world of adolescence to teenage dream with such daring pieces as Last Friday Night and PEACOCK you still would not have missed, as well as completely successful as Poptracks ROAR and THIS IS HOW WE DO on the current work of PRISM.
The lovingly edited vinyl edition of One of the Boys with additional remix EP for wearing with hits I Kissed A Girl and Hot N Cold receives of course the five stars that it is entitled.
