This first opus establishes the general context of the whole cycle Foundation.
Why and how, the origin of the Foundation and its first "struggles", ...
I admit I am a little sorry that is not more developed the fate of Hari Seldon ... However, from what I've read elsewhere (and I intend to see for even me), tomes written by Following ("Prelude to Foundation", ...) give many indications on the journey of Seldon.
The style is truly pleasant to read: Asimov takes us into the atmosphere of the 13th millennium with its wealth of detail (technical) and the reader feels transported to different eras described in a kind of Star Wars before the hour (well before even as the book was written in the 50s) or a Dune Frank Herbert (closest chronologically).
One regret: the stories are actually quite short and the reader does not have much time to focus on the characters ... but this is explained by the fact that it is a compilation of the final news.
In any case, the scene is set and it remains for me to devour "episodes" following.
