Oscar Peterson's 'Night Train' is probably one of the most beautiful piano trio albums of jazz. Together with Ray Brown (b) and Ed Thigpen (drums) formed the pianist an excellent trio stayed together even for a long time and developed a very personal style: slightly swinging, very dynamic and captivating presence. Oscar Peterson is one of the most accomplished and most expressive pianists of jazz and has found in trio format his best environment. 'Night Train' features landscaped standard interpretations such as 'Georgia on My Mind' or 'C Jam Blues'.
Peterson dedicated this album to his father, who worked as a sleeper Stewart at the Canadian Pacific Railways, so perhaps explains his particular emotional game in this session. 'Night Train', recorded in just 2 days - on 15 and 16 December 1962 in the Radio Recorders Studios Hollywood - is probably to this day Oscar Peterson's most famous and perhaps best album!
