Oscar Peterson's 'Night Train' - his best album!

The train has a special significance in Jazz: Many blacks came to the Mississippi steamboat from New Orleans to the north - but many also took the train. Thus, besides the 'Night Train' various other Jazz title with a reference to the railroad: 'Take the A-Tain' (B. Strayhorn, 1957), 'Honky Tonk Train Blues' (ML Lewis, 1927),' Choo-Chooch -Boogie '(B. Haley, 1956) or' Midnight Special '(H. Ledbetter, 1936).
Together with Ray Brown (b) and Ed Thigpen (drums) formed the pianist an excellent trio stayed together even for a long time and developed a very personal style: slightly swinging, very dynamic and captivating presence. 'Night Train', recorded in just 2 days - on 15 and 16 December 1962 in the Radio Recorders Studios Hollywood - is probably to this day Oscar Peterson's most famous and perhaps best album!
