The sound of the HD 449 is very balanced and still offers enough dynamics in the bass range. The highs are reproduced crystal clear but not over-subscribed. The bass is very extensive in the lower frequency range and remains very precise. This corresponds to the manufacturers description of the product. I hear mainly classical, jazz and singer / songwriter on a Sony MP3 player. The volume in the range of 10-15 is set (from 30 steps). Got my Ultimate Ears In-Ear Earphone since no longer used because of the HD 449 reproduces an impressive soundstage, so that even hearing an orchestral work for enjoyment is. The handset fits well on my rather large head and is due to its light weight barely noticeable. I also own the Refrenzhörer HD 800 from Sennheiser and can say in comparison: value for money is to hit the mobile HD 449 barely. To rule out the suspicion: No - I'm not sponsored by manufacturer and I'm usually a very critical consumer.
