Black Rain (Audio CD)

Customer Review

is definitely "Black Rain". No Question! And Everything was better anyway ...

To be serious again: I was really surprised by Ozzy's latest solo work - in the most positive sense! So a chunk I had the old Madman after his embarrassing television appearances and not bad, but somehow rather tame album "Down to Earth" (the album cover I'll deliberately left out) no longer have expected. But you can indeed wrong, in this case, fortunately!

Both songwriting and sound are much better turned out than on the predecessor. The production sounds modern, without wishing to curry favor to any trends and expresses just endless.

But also know the songs to inspire, they are much more varied than in the predecessor. More often here the pace is varied, instead of always driving the same old mid-tempo track, as it was still the case on "Down to Earth". With "11 silver" and "Trapdoor" one encounters even in tempo regions that have been most recently entered in "No Rest for the Wicked" - which is, after all, nearly 20 years ago!

Ballads may not be missing, so that even friends of the softer side of Ozzy's served with "Lay Your World On Me" and "Here For You". All too schmaltzy songs have not failed, fortunately, although "Here For You" perhaps could have saved. But does not matter because the remaining 8 Songs rock for all it's worth and are also designed very catchy.

Conclusion: Ozzy comes out with his new work that is still to be reckoned with. He has a very good album at the start that it is also present on the tour hopefully live adequately.
