The need for a reasonable stand has initiated only slowly over the years. My joy at the macro photograph was marred significantly by the trouble when focusing. In our old stand wobbled the construction and (not enlarged) with him motive preview in Live View as a lambs tail, once you docked the hand even to the focus ring. Via trial and error and a lot of patience to have subsided with the vibrations actually settled eventually find the focus point.
With Focusing the whole was better but still not good. After focusing with 10-fold magnification in Live View with velvet paws and patience was even possible.
With the Novoflex Tripod now prevails finally rest.
Unfortunately, there is no simple tripods for "metrics" with which angle changes the optical axis with typical superstructures and loads or the damping of the oscillations could be estimated (eg when turning the various screws ....) - And that would have me straight in the Company Manfrotto particularly interested; because the very word all the enthusiastic reviewers oh how stable their tripods but were and woe to a single caller dared to say the opposite; and decisive a compound slide of the same company, who apparently no longer comes close to its own previous standards of quality ... In short, I took then but rather just deeper into their pockets - and no regrets!
The firm stand you feel literally when you put your hand on the built tripod. And the rough adjustment of the macro slide at 10x LiveView shares with only subtle tremors and no more than flickering of a candle flame on the train. Handles to the adjustment in the end for fine adjustment cautious, then the preview image is virtually silent. So focusing on the nervous ordeal is finally for casual activities.
The extracts are unlocked with less than half a rotation (of the overlying ring) and can then be pleasantly light and smooth move. Equally easily, they are also locked again from the wrist. The feet are now (unlike in the current photo here and the attached manual) round rubber with rounded bearing surfaces. From the manual, unfortunately, it is not apparent whether to remove the rubber and thus spikes can uncover - and I maid not to pluck ;-)
Of course it is in this price range all legs independently abduction; But I especially like that you can exchange them against smaller legs. And one wants to drive the flexibility of the tip, so you can still quite different thanks to daring 1/4 '' threaded with rods and clamp tripod - tackle buildings - overhanging.
With the little legs has a great macro stand with which you can work quite close to the ground - the top of a sliding plate is about 7.5 cm at 90 ° splayed legs and about 10 cm with a below 60 ° splayed " rear "leg (both front continue at 90 °) above the ground. For applications on lawns as often to find wonderful and gravel in heathlands ok. Deeper probably really about only one beanbag.
The 60 ° from the top do not just happen. In fact, there are three stops at 20 °, 40 ° and 60 ° for each of the three legs, which are unlocked with the small blue button on the tripod base. "Detent" I found in this regard somewhat misleading, since the legs are prevented only to a further spreading - fold or make closer can be the stand at any time without the need to hold down buttons.
And as needed, the adjustment force of the legs can be adjusted with an Allen key:
so firmly with the small legs that they remain under "crooked" angles, or the large that they wrap themselves one at the mere conversion of the stand is not just around the hand - and (of course before) so easy that you if's piece will come off ...
In particular, the leg joints can not actually wear out.
The maximum altitude is also perfectly adequate for my applications; mounted on a ball head, the camera delivers a level where I can just look through the viewfinder and measure a matter of good 1.90.
Where there is light ...
The worst I miss the center column. The QuadroPod had one, but once you leave the studio flat floors and venturing out into the rough nature, then a determined painfully aware at every variation of the location of the set of the three points and a plane in space. And the complement Trio CC is 8 cm adjusting a nice idea for the fine adjustment, if you have previously demonstrated caution in the setting of all three legs. And the latter because of the high total weight preferably without been planted camera. After all, does not interfere with any center column at ground-level shots. And that's why I get this mini-extension not so soon into the house.
This leads me inevitably to the next point:
The mounting of a ball head (~ 600g) or sliding plate (450g) on the stand base (~ 300g) is quite hakelig with 1/4 '' screw, as each of the three components has been a considerable weight. A screwing you want to make only once ... and even if it is with the 3/8 '' screw (can be screwed up) is straightforward, you can get a Einstellschlitten not (as before with the continuous 1/4 '' screw ) precisely align - as is necessary for ground-level work without ball head.
It is this Geschraube strengthened again my rejection of the Trio CC.
Maybe I'm too spoiled by our 25 Crutch with quick release plate, or at least get our new acquisition a Q-Mount and the easiest board donated - and there are again a hundred Euros away ...
Conclusion:
With all the comforts of stand alone building for an ordinary landscape shot comes to scarce 2.7 kg (!)
And Carbon would my charge not worth his slight relief. Speaking of price: as already "extremely expensive"
But you get an incredibly versatile rich and really stand firm stand that can be adjusted quickly and easily. You even get a second for macro applications with the same.
The supplied bag is padded, chic, feels good - and is inside (of course!) Blue. But most of all it is designed very generous and accepts the Triopod including mounted ball head on effortlessly.
Oh Yes! - Each leg can be used as a monopod the way ... like the advertiser does not tire of pointing out ;-)
I give myself no illusions: this will not be our last stand.
But for our present equipment, it is many years to come more than adequate and makes especially for night and macro photography focusing on the game. And to my opening words take again:
With the lighthearted fun of his equipment like us are the motives a good chance to show their best side; even if other better pictures may succeed even with rickety scrap (for my sake apples), my fuse is too short for such and I love now even trim kit (logical pears) - and am also fully do so.
And because my Triopod really "like very much", it gets deserved 5 stars.
I hope to have helped so many and wanted anyone determined (too tight) step on their feet.
Have fun on and always good light!
