The lens I would wholeheartedly recommend any DSLR beginners - alone for the simple reason because it provide a very wide zoom range (or, of course, like focal length range for advanced) covered, thus making the transition from the compact cameras easily. With the kit lenses one is fast in despair as newcomers, because you're used to more Zoom. For "normal" hobby shooting, the lens is ideal, and I would say exactly for it is also intended.
Furthermore, one notices as DSLR beginners because of this lens is also very good, what is missing one. Speak the question that sooner or later every DSLR owner is: "which lenses I need?" or "lenses which I could buy me?" you can then 18-270er clarify quite well for themselves because of the experience with the Tamron. For most amateur photographers will however turn out that you can master the most Situtationen quite well with the lens.
For my part I have found that I need a stronger light lens, but with a far smaller focal length range for the indoor shots in bad light. Here, the 18-270er is a bit too weak, if you want to use no flash.
The only complaint from my side is that the object is too light. I know - there are quite a few recessions claim otherwise. The fact is that when the lens holding the camera down and it is also only minimally extended, the object on its own comes out completely and vice versa - a little further inside and 270 and the lens extends purely as soon as you hold the camera up , I do not know if it is normal in these sizes, but it bothers me. I shoot with a Canon 450D with Battariegriff and the 430er lightning - that is the whole thing has a decent weight and I photograph in principle free hand (as most photos at the moment of my 1-year son have come a tripod is also currently out of the question but otherwise I'd rather lose it). To relieve the hand it's all good now and there to keep the camera up or down, and as it is just a nuisance when making the lens automatically. Compared to 18-200er lens from Tamron 18-270 which is also noticeably more difficult, if it has a meaning for someone - and especially in diameter and larger.
Conclusion: for most professionals as a universal travel zoom for all other an absolutely recommendable part, even if the price would be twice as high. For more novice should be said - the zoom difference between 18-200 and 18-270 is not as great as you might imagine it. On the manufacturer's side, there is this a pretty good flash animation where you can try it. However, due to the stabilizer I would recommend 18-270 - makes really in poor reception conditions a lot and exactly at stake - with perfect shooting conditions makes even the worst-lenses beautiful pictures.
