The application of the film:
Good foresight is really all in the installation of the film. I do not really have a dust-free environment, but with my precautions it worked flawlessly on the second attempt: I got the film previously looked at carefully to understand how and from which side is best replaces this. A debit card to smooth out I have to hand placed the desk cleared before, then wiped away and cleaned the Surface display itself as well as the film-to-install. The film on top of the surface on the camera position and the two speaker holes left and right oriented testweise aligned. Then the actual implementation: foil little by little tightened and smoothed with the debit card. This requires little pressure and was very easy. from the middle again quickly made the dust check and continue the applied film. In the end I had excellent results, fully blown and free of dust - with a 12 "display.
What I have not done:
The film was about a millimeter arrived at the bottom of approximately offset one millimeter, I've probably somewhat obliquely stated above. But this I could quite easily clean up after, as I have slightly raised the stable film with a fingernail at the edge and have simply cut with a sharp pair of scissors to the supernatant of the film on the display frame and the slide towards the edge with the debit card back have smoothed. Conclusion: I am happy, but no debit card, emphasize the smooth, you get air pockets not get out (I've learned on the first attempt). Moisten the table to remove dust and to bind residual lint, is necessary.
My result:
The foil is crystal clear and not fall further on. The touch- and stylus operation of the Surface is not impaired. The film is stable and after three days I see no practical use scratch resistance of the surface, especially after intensive Pen / Stylus use.
My colleagues have not noticed the film. If the foil is applied without bubbles (see above), you can see them if you look closely at the cut-outs for camera and sensors on the top of the screen.
My Conclusion:
Would I buy it again! Applying the film wisely and tackle unhurried. The preparation is vital for a successful result.
