After a long search I found now the Olympus TG 2 ... I have long compared various outdoor cameras and also read through various test results of various web pages.
now ordered ... - delivered (quite fast, as usual) - from the beach holiday in the Caribbean. much sand - salt water - sunscreen - daily 30 degrees - perfect conditions ie for a test.
Camera keeps really delivers what it promises, it has a lot of settings (which you really should be used for optimum photos) and even an LED light for low exposures, which would flash to light, but exposure need (eg. the recording mode for eating) ,
GPS works perfectly and also displays the exact coordinates, one gets lost ^^
Camera is waterproof, and both battery slot and cable connectors (battery to load directly from the camera, so no extra adapter required) are doubly secured and must open in a certain order. So there is no accidental opening when you play in the water or arrives while snorkeling.
sand and sunscreen do you not also, no salt water (they have a precaution anyway every night in the room rinsed with fresh water).
The display is scratch resistant, so it does not interfere when it engages with rough sandy hands.
the only 2 "caveats" that I want to hold here that the camera through its robust construction (and since all the technology, GPS, etc. also needs somewhere space) is greater than many other outdoor cameras.
However, it fits loosely into a pants pocket without further attract attention, but you should be aware that you can buy any normal digicam, which is one probably only 1cm deep.
on the other hand I have created with an Olympus Tough neoprene pocket remedy. also handy because you can moor by armband and you can put away so easily in water.
The second shortcoming is that the cameras - in my opinion - in "iAuto" Setting the flash too seldom used, so you can this also unfortunately do not change. to solve the problem, however, by turning on P for manual settings.
dropped or a weight of 100 kg, I have not the camera. I would also like to avoid. However, I am fully convinced that she would endure this as well.
I would like to particularly praise nor the function of the super-macro shot ... I tried this on the beach. you can see individual grains of sand if you ranzoomt on the final image even. really good.
All in all, you get exactly what it says in the description of Olympus. the price of just 300 euros is justified for me completely because you get a robust part, which (hopefully) appear quite durable.
