The Turtles are a group from the '60s, when you were never quite sure if they are or pure pop music should ascribe more progressive music. The reason is that some of their hits are very pleasant pop songs, some tape members but later completely different ways are gone. This applies not only for the drummer John Barbata, who later Jefferson Airplane was, but especially for the two lead singers Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan, the many songs the Turtles have posted. Under the name 'Flo & Eddie' or 'The Phlorescent Leech and Eddie' she later made a entirely different career. They were involved in many albums of famous artists, as examples are mentioned here T.Rex, Alice Cooper, Steely Dan, Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon and many others. For me, their collaboration with Frank Zappa is the most important thing. Since they are on the albums "Chunga's Revenge", "Fillmore East", "Another Band From LA Just" and hear "200 Motels". Your Appearances in the film "200 Motels" are memorable for me because they have contributed significantly to the humor of the film.
This CD brings most of the early Turtles hits. The older recordings are mostly from well-known musicians such as Bob Dylan or PF Sloan wrote, but are also represented by Volman and Kaylan penned originals. The Turtles were known to the wonderful Dylan song 'It Is not Me Babe', her biggest success was 'Happy Together', the just part of the Woodstock generation. Very successful was also the good mood spreading 'She'd Rather Be With Me' 'Elenore', the last big hit, is undervalued in my opinion, always. With 20 songs, which no Bof failure is, one is really well served at the CD, if one is interested in just for music from that period.
