It is relatively stiff and heavy and has two differently shaped blue pages. One shows a 1cm check pattern, the other side has a revolving imperial units, further inward an angle with cm-level and in the area of 1/2 inch squares. For this purpose a right diagonal cross and a 60 degree angle are still drawn. Together with a (cutting) ruler therefore a thoroughly practical support, if you want to perform odd jobs.
Two positive properties will fall when cut to:
- Cutter and Cutter Rotary slide much more easily through the material to be cut, because the blue layer of the mat does not have much resistance, as when, for example, taking a carton as a base.
- Both blades do not penetrate even with a little more pressure, so you must not be afraid to cut the mat.
However, there are also two negative properties:
- Self-healing is not right before, because to stay straight cuts when they are also having the time compared to fresh cut always inconspicuous, still palpable and you cut several times along a line, or make cutting lines several times successively intensified this effect. Even worse, the mat reacts to curved cuts with the Rotary Cutter.
- The mat from sliding on smooth surfaces
Conclusion: Much better than a cardboard backing or similar, but not completely self-healing. Very well suited for smaller, lighter works from the art world. For curved cuts or work with more effort less well because they also slips
