If you only use the USB for connecting a keyboard + mouse + USB 2 or 3, you can settle for a hub without external power.
But if you plan to connect one or more portable hard drives, it is imperative you need an external power supply WITH hub, as Afendo model, for example.
The object is well-built and well finished, it looked great with its aluminum shell. The simple design matches with your computer, whether Mac or PC. Small rubber feet on the underside prevents the device from slipping on your desk.
The hub comes with a small carrying case and curious but practical thing, with an adapter to connect the United Kingdom (UK).
Flows are compliant with the USB 3.0 standard: very fast as long as your devices are also the USB 3.0 standard.
The hub accepts without flinching several simultaneous devices, flow rates then being shared. Only regret, the power supplied only delivers 2.5 amps, which can not connect more than three external hard drives simultaneously (possibly four, depending on the power consumption of your discs). While this configuration is not very common, I take a star for this lack of power power.
The award, thirty euros, is in the low market average for this type of product.
