Since I love to watch movies and much, or series and it did with DVD as a medium for a long time, for me it was now time time to switch to the next generation. I have researched long and am finally ended up with the Samsung BD-H5500. I did not want to spend too much money on all the players, but also wanted to have a 3D support, you never know what comes so in the future. At the moment I still have a somewhat older Samsung LED TV The 6 generation without 3D. That reminds me of the price of the Samsung appealed player, I ordered him to me, despite concerns the rather fluctuating reviews here on Amazon. First a few general things to BD-H5500: Regarding connections, the player is kept very minimalist, which is given the price but also justified. On the front there is the right one USB port. It should be noted that having the Blue Ray player no display! I find personally not bad now, but is a matter of taste. The front and sides are kept in piano black finish. Looks chic, but attracts dust and fingerprints magically. The top is held in aluminum look, but I think that it is plastic. Is for me but no negative point, given the price. The large tiles is the choices for playing a blue ray or DVD, and one each possibility to play videos, photos or music from a USB medium. For the smaller tiles are the smart functions, such as YouTube, etc. From the "Opera Store" you can download more apps. In addition, you get here in the settings. In general, the design of the software is quite simple, clear and runs pretty fast. If you only use the smart functions, the player is running without any noise, he is completely silent. Some words to the remote control. This is quite compact and portable, well structured, the keys have a good pressure point and everything is easily accessible. With this one can operate well on Samsung's Anynet + to TV. Provided is a Samsung device. Two batteries are included. After I have made all the settings, I have the same first a Blue Ray (Iron Sky) caught and played. Now comes my only actually, but more serious, negative point of the player: At the beginning the player is rather noisy, but is still relatively normal, and I think almost all Blue Ray players will be the case. But the problem is that the playback sound is quieter, although after a short time, but still is very annoying, especially because it is a fairly high note. You have to say that the price-performance ratio of the Samsung BD-H5500 is really great. For the price of just over 50 (December, 2014) you get currently no other Blue Ray player with such equipment and therefore we may not expect too much too high, but the noise is really wrong. It may also be that I got a unit with a production error, given the high number of complaints here in the reviews, I do not think the more. The feeling of noise is also highly dependent on the Postitionierung the player. On what ground he stands, sits how far away from it, etc. pp. Incidentally occurred the same noise when DVDs with me. Consequently, I have the players now, returned after only one evening in use again, and now bought the Sony BDP S4200 and hope that this is a high-bit high-order drive has been installed.
