Positives:
The batteries are not only used, but also firmly connected properly with a plug. This makes m. E. because of the water resistance meaning. The battery cover is already provided with a seal and is screwed. If one of the devices, the seal was not properly installed, you have to catch up when inserting the batteries.
The devices are ready for use after switching on within a few seconds, unless you have to make the setting again every time.
In case everything is actually executed twice, the Chargers.
The devices can be operated intuitively and immediately make a high-quality and robust. Switch on and go.
Negatives:
There were most deduction: The device meets the IPX7 standard only if headphones are not plugged. But that could at least I notice only after receipt of the equipment with the instruction manual. Because I feel really cheated because if a device is being touted with IPX7, I expect of course also an IPX7 headphone jack. Now due to the explicit reference in the instructions I even suspect that the equipment might break down, once some water should penetrate into the headset jack. Unfortunately, in my case, the planned use on the water (kite with expected falls in the water) is a knock-out criterion. Since the radios rather long antennas have (I do not get this way, removed), there are no matching waterproof pockets with waterproof lead out Headphone output. The smaller (unless it is already appropriate) bags also cost as much as one of the radios.
The devices forgotten each time off that previously the VOX mode was activated. One has to consider so every time. On the other hand: Only firmware and not (supposedly) sophisticated software = started fast and robust.
The belt clips are ok, would be desirable but a loop. Correction: There is a small loop, as we know it from USB sticks. One can therefore, unlike first shows the unit of mine, quite secure against loss. But what I was looking for, but is missing: A backup, with which you can secure the unit by a large eg for belt or wide bracelets suitable loop not only against loss but also to prevent slipping.. So for outdoor could hold a candle, for sports, it is not enough for me.
The batteries can be locked only by screwing the lid on the device, it does not fit exactly into the mold but have game. Maybe that has a deeper meaning opened up has not me this. When the lid is screwed on but rattles nothing. Perhaps it is indeed only to the fact that you have to screw down the lid ...
You should consider whether you can insert standard batteries for extended periods of use before purchasing. I have not checked, by default no support and no battery compartment are provided.
The power supplies are supplied with 9V. There are other devices where running USB-based here. Since it is more likely that you already have car adapter, power supply units with manifold or a Power Bank. If you have no such equipment, which is primarily priced plays a role. A Power Bank there is such. As well as with 9V terminal (the plugs have not yet tested). One has then stop also twice as much equipment that you (outdoor) around with bears / -fährt and which we must not forget. On the other hand then comes perhaps at least one of the devices, if one of the Chargers fails.
The headphone jack makes beside the waterproofing problem also elsewhere worry: It is not the usual in many PMR radios 2.5-3.5 mm - used double jack. Instead, a conventional 3-pin 3.5 mm jack is used. One finds it even headphones, but it is hardly true headset with microphone. If this should still be waterproof (which actually already Wurscht is due to the water resistance problem), it is in the outdoor area to infect close to 0. one by one adapter, power meters. E. extremely little sense. I have now once ordered a very cheap headset (four poles) and then examine how I get to run the. Advantage of the three-prong plug is the way that waterproof cases - unless you have a waterproof cable penetration (such as from Aquapac.), Usually only the headphone lead to the outside (for all other Bluetooth headsets are usually provided, which I in the water not think is great). If the unit would therefore fit into the envelope (which is not the case), you could despite expensive shell still bring a comparably priced waterproof solution (so twice as expensive, but still good value). I did not find sufficiently large shells with waterproof grommet.
From the usability of the headphones depends ultimately also the usability of the VOX function (According strength threshold to automatically turn the microphone without pressing a button and go to Send).
The VOX function is switched off, as mentioned above, which is of course good for other applications as "hands free".
There seem to outweigh the negatives here. But that is just another buyer stimulate thorough reflection. One must not forget that other devices may meet the outlined requirements better - it also quadrupled costs (eg the Albrecht Tectalk Duro.).
