Positive about this product should be mentioned:
+ Instructions in sufficient detail and in German
+ Simple initial start-up (5 seconds on the push button)
+ Easy installation with the magnets
+ Visually neutral / response (glossy white)
+ Price (only about 18 per smoke detector incl. Magnet)
Apart from the magnetic holder, any modern smoke detectors should fulfill the above points.
Unfortunately, the deduction of three stars comes about due to the following disadvantages:
- The smoke detector has a red "I-live-even" LED (more about below)
- The LED lights up every 40 seconds (!)
- In the article description does not, but probably mentioned on the packaging: The magnetic mount is _not_ VDS compliant
Most disturbs me the LED, because I have read the item description exactly (and the LED is not mentioned there) have studied the photos and especially, where also no LED can be seen. This is because the LED is designed so that it shines through the cover (which has the advantage, at least, that the light is highly insulated and scattered, and not the room briefly lit). The smoke detector must be "the people" by law now have in the bedroom - who would want to see a flashing smoke detector? In addition, the LED still lights up every 40 seconds! All have 3-5 minutes, if at all necessary, also passed. The light, as I said, is very weak but especially noticeable when the smoke alarm has roughly reading with dim light in the visual field.
This does not deserve the title of "people's smoke detector" for me the product, especially not because being advertised with this easy and practical magnet assembly that is not certified VDS.
Those are in my view very serious shortcomings, which I now see, however, away and the smoke detector (about 20 pieces in total) will so operate because of the price. Because unfortunately the competing product has become more expensive by 40-50% in the last few weeks (now 28 per smoke detector, without magnet, for us in total over 100).
