After a few weeks use of the redness are not left in the neck area, but grew stronger as I had to shave with increasingly more power and more features in order to obtain a satisfactory result. The shaving performance was from the outset rather satisfying as well. Before, I had occasionally used an ancient brown-power razor. Even could without weekly cleaning the shaving heads better shave than this Philips.
The upshot was that I would have given the unit prefer to return, but before I had an opportunity to do it has gone quite simply broken. The battery ran no longer load and thus could not be used the device. The trader has returned to Philips for repair, but after a week I got a notification that the device is irreparably and I get the purchase price back.
Then I ask myself as an engineer what must have gone on the device broke, so it is no longer repairable. Had it been the power cord, you could replace it without any problems. A defective battery would have been easily replaced.
From the refund I have now bought a Braun Series 1 190 and am completely satisfied. Following list of advantages and disadvantages of this Philips is thus in reference to Brown 1/190:
+ Long battery life
+ 2 LEDs
+ The trimmer works great
+ Fully washable
- Very chunky shape
- After washing the equipment it needs to dry opened several hours, otherwise it starts to smell ...
- ... Which would not be so bad if you could clean the appliance unstucked and with enclosed cleaning brush, which is impossible, but simply, if only because the device head is far too labyrinthine to can dry clean it
- The maintenance of a recommended cleaning the three shaving heads every week is disproportionately high (installation and removal of shaving heads is quite fiddly; also intended to use the Philips detergent ...)
- Shaving Performance at best satisfactory; especially on the chin as long as I had to rub the skin was all red, so that the shaving result is satisfactory
- The triangular arranged shaving heads - apparently so special about this device - are a fundamental design flaw because they are unsuitable for larger beard areas, small areas (upper lip) and precise cuts (chops!); advantageous if they were on the edges (Smooth face and neck, chin) if the shaving would be really good
- Manual for the simple functionality of a razor overloaded (Braun makes it better off)
- Defective beyond repair after 5 months
Conclusion: My Brown I would not have missed for anything in the world more. Even me, as other reviewers, it is inconceivable how Philips can be successful with his razors. Actually, Philips, when it comes to electronics, my preferred brand, and I have never been disappointed, but this shaver is not worth the money by far. The promise of this device it's no skin irritation to offer a close shave. But that does not do it precisely. Probably one must only minimal beard growth have in order to be satisfied.
Who previously had a Braun shaver should definitely stay with Brown, because he will be disappointed by the shaving performance of Philips.
