I have previously read through the critical recessions for this article with respect to the Mac Minis in 2012 and thought to myself that I could not pass the then yes with my Mac mini mid-2011 (MC815D / A). Unfortunately, I should be informed after a few days of fruitless troubleshooting and Verzweifelns better of it:
The installation of the SSD was quite fast and smoothly. I have lead me here from various video tutorials let (including iFixit). As described in all instructions, I first removed the system disk, the SSD installed with the cable supplied here in its place and later put the old hard drive on top.
But as it turned out after the installation, I had massive problems my system set up again.
The plates were both recognized correctly. I then created a fusion Drive through the terminal and also has been recognized by the system clean. After that I wanted to play my backup from the external HDD again. This is canceled after a few hours with an error message (I / O Error). Then I thought to myself that I aufspiele my Time Machine backup. But as far as it should not even come. I have been an error before the start (This operation can not be performed on the destination media). Finally, I thought to myself that I will probably only the OS can re-play. But again, the installer has either hung or has terminated with an error).
Since my technicians ego did not want to admit that I am a Mac or an Apple Gravis technicians admit, I was here at the recession (MG) recalls that warns against the installation of the kit in a Mac Mini in 2012. As a last hope I have therefore again screwed the Mac. Now I have the cable replaced the system board with the SSD (the Kitkabel). I also swapped the two board seats, ie the HDD is now back at the usual place and the SSD on top. After screwing together and again (now umpteenth) creating the fusion Drives then the little miracle: Mac OS could be installed without any problems. My backup could be played back without any problems. And the performance .... :)
So:
1. Original Apple HDD deduct SATA cable and plug to SSD
2. Insert Dual Drive Kit SATA cable to Apple HDD
3. Install Apple HDD as the lower drive in the Mac Mini
4. Install SSD about
-> My Mac mini mid-2011 runs 1a since!
