Unfortunately, it turned out that this torch has massive problems with rewritable DVDs, both with DVD + RW and DVD-RW, the manufacturer TDK or Verbatim. Either the DVDs were not detected when loading only, or it could not be described, or described could no longer be read. I have no rewritable DVD media found the easy to work reliably with this burner. The same could and DVDs can I use with the LG-4163B without problems still. I have also performed an upgrade to the latest firmware, but the problems with the media could not be eliminated. I also had the opportunity to test in the company to another computer, the previous model, and thus it came to the same problems that the DVDs not recognized or could not be described. Unfortunately, LG released a compatibility list of blanks with which these burners would cope better.
Furthermore, a DVD + R, the. Only up 16x was certified burned at the full recording speed of 24x. The burned data were after a subsequent examination though obviously correct, the long term durability of such a DVD but we can only speculate. Especially reassuring is not anyway.
I have then instead the Samsung SH-224BB / BEBE concerned who came clear with the problematic under LG rewritable DVDs without problems. The DVDs were detected immediately after charging, could be described easily and also read back. And the 16x DVD was actually 16x burned. I would like to have the M-Disk attempts since LG indeed the only manufacturer so far is that support this format so far. But because of the problems with the rewritable DVDs I can not use the device to.
Because of these limitations by me so no recommendation.
