- "Clouding" in the display
- More or less "wavy" keyboard
- Non-flush completed processing / assembly of items etc.
Priced beyond 1300 Euros for even the first "no-go".
Added to this was a regular problem that the wireless connection broke. Only after restarting or resetting the connection this working again - until (early) next dropouts. I was desperate and thought it was a manufacturing error at Asus.
Now the positive (s) email (s):
- At least the flagship, the Zenbook UX301LA is processed (for me) perfect. And by that I mean actually "perfect" because I'm already extremely meticulous in the purchase price. In addition, it is actually thinner (!) Even as the UX302LA (I initially favored wg. Discrete graphics card).
- There is finally a solution for the WLAN problem. If you search the Internet quickly finds out that this problem also exists in other, newer laptops with Win8.1. The read me to think that there can not be a hardware defect (only) at Asus (especially not in each of the tested laptops).
In fact, it is a driver issue! But no: it is not the latest driver for the WLAN Netwerkadapter required but an older driver!
How to proceed in this model of Asus, I will describe to you now, so that you can have your joy in this model, ie:
1. Device Manager call (simplest version at Win8.1: search on Device Manager typing)
2. Select WLAN Netwerkadapter Double (here: Intel (R) Wireless-N 7260).
3. Under "drivers" "Update Driver" button.
4. "Browse my computer for driver software" click - then click on the box: "For a list of device drivers on my computer".
5. Important: Remove check "Show compatible hardware" - a little patience, a few seconds later, appears a multitude of possible drivers.
6. Click in the links now appearing window ("Manufacturer") "Intel Corporation", then the right window will turn a multitude of possible network adapters.
7. There are now looking for "Intel (R) Wireless-N 7260 (Microsoft)." It is important to select the (older) drivers with the designation Microsoft! NOT the same as designated drivers (Intel).
8. Now on "next", it appears a warning that should not unsettle a.
Et voila! It runs again. Who as I invested a lot of time for a solution that is hard to believe - but it goes again ...
The only I was watching "gotcha" is that the exposed beams of the wireless connection suddenly show (bottom right of screen) from time to time only a bar, but then quite quickly reach full strength. I have not been measured, whether it comes in this second in a reduced speed of the wireless connection. Surfing the Internet I could so far recorded no losses, the download I (still) not tested it. I suspect, because this "shortcomings" There were newer drivers of Intel, but unfortunately now cause the exact opposite. Therefore I can live with this (potential) restriction until the IT giants have finally found a more useful solution through a reasonable new driver.
And now: Have fun with your (added: expensive) laptop!
