Sigma Rox 10.0 meter GPS (Sports)

Customer Review

At first, when I opened the package I found the small screen slightly larger than on my ROX 9.1. But by turning, we see that the police not only smaller but much smoother. There are 4 main buttons and 2 side buttons, then that's how I see it. Top left, and Stop Backspace and right ignition and validation. Down below the logo (-) and (+) enabling navigation through menus. Finally, at the bottom left Starting activity, Checkpoint and right the Mode button. It allows you to browse the various tables offered by the ROX 10.0.

Personally, I find the successful aesthetics. As against a flat screen would have been easier to install a screen film. That said, I bought the protective films for the Garmin 500 and have cut edges to virtually take the screen. It is functional and unobtrusive.
ROX is a 10.0 meter block, what I mean is that there are no screws, it seems stuck. So what about if the battery to die, I do not know?
There is a big change on the handlebar support, both on the ROX 9.1, I happened to fall at the red path as well support ROX 10.0 this is concrete. Personally, I bought the remote support, really convenient to have the counter in the alignment of the bracket. Only drawback, it is necessary to dismantle shifter / brake and therefore cabling to install. It is even more easy to manipulate buttons wheelchair that does not move at all.
The handling and menu navigation is still in the mind of ROX 9.1 much more convenient. At the same time, there is much more information, so, thankfully. Although the black and white screen is readable and lighting works very well, very convenient early morning in winter.
I took the version without belt and without sensors. I was able to benefit from the numerous coupon of Amazon.com. Touched to 119 euros while the full version did not drop below 197 euros, I preferred to acquire the ant + sensors independently. The ant belt + 20 euros at decat and cadence sensor / speed as 20 euros. Everything works fine, lappareillage took 3 seconds.
Today, I no longer use the speed sensor and uses only the internal GPS sensor Sigma. I drive a tubebess and changes in the pressures on wheels are large enough to significantly alter the distance / speed traveled. I can roll between 7 bars and 4 bars but is not annoying. So necessarily change the wheel height. That said, I do not know if it's more or less accurate, but the differences are less important compared to my GPS so that locates me almost 3m. The Sigma is around 8 to 11m.

The features of this counter are an invitation to roll (;-))) Especially as to access is particularly evident. Here I speak not of the parameter setting menus but different tables available supplying information when driving. I'm not all you itemize. You have all this information in the documentation that you can download online at sigmasport site. However, be aware that you have 5 main tables and in 2 Profiles A and B:

1) Cycle Counter. You can access most of the information that can provide the Sigma ROX 10.0 either with the top right button or with the (-) and (+).
2) track. As its name suggests, this table can follow a path. You have more than 2/3 of the screen to display the route, the rest is allocated to 3 times 2 data. Profile example A: Vit / Dis and FC / And then Precision GPS / Orientation. This change of data is possible using the top right button on / Validation.
3) Altitude. If you follow a path, the Sigma graphically displays the altitude. Again 2/3 for graph 2 1/3 to 3 times data.
4) User. Here, the Sigma shows all data necessary to run well / quickly and long (;-)). In fact, especially the one you have chosen. It's a bit of a summary table of what you find most useful. By default, there are Speed / Dist then below Cad / Can still below FC / Elevation (see photo) Although that Altitude could be changed by% slope ...
5) turn marker. When you want to mark an instant, you can choose the data to be stored.

These tables are modified in the parameter setting menu and for the Profile A and Profile B.
In addition to these tables, the counter has a Stopwatch, a countdown and a compass.

I changed to the largely ROX 10.0 for plotting follow. Other features, I was already on the ROX 9.1. I live in an area that I do not know much. I thought the phone option but it is not waterproof and cons of the screen is disproportionate to a continuous display.
I had several Garmin 305 and the 705, so I was already equipped with Garmin BaseCamp with Topo map. At first I tried to make a path with OpenStreetMap Data Center but unfortunately is not up to date on certain stretches of road near my home. I saw that we could participate in the update but it takes time to learn ... In the course Data Center is traced quickly. The POIs can be inserted is displayed on ROX 10.0 with a big point on the route, no other info, too bad. The change is just as simple. The where things get complicated a bit is if you import other software route in GPX format, the change is even more delicate discouraged. The solution, I do not have one. Or importing a layout in Data Center and there will be an approximation of course according to the precision in which the layout was done either one creates the plot from the Data Center. By against the POIs can be created on both.
So after all that, it is the course of follow-functional, yes, it is even pretty good. I was misled but it is not related to the couple Data Center / ROX 10.0 but the fact that I used to plot a course formats from other software and that means that the route follows the plotted points by segment and does not follow quite the road. Otherwise, for information, the first time, I imported a plot with about 3800 items (in fact unnecessary, but hey it's trying that one learns) Sigma is done rather well.

So, the line tracking works well, very well. In addition, if you depart from the route, it will tell you pretty quickly (precision in adjusting parameter settings) "You are off track" but in addition, it draws a dotted line (see photo) for you indicated where is the path relative to your current location. When you found the route, this time he tu you "You're on the track" (;-) I do not know if it's done on purpose, but if that's the case, I conclude that one is his buddy when you're on the track and he is backing away when you leave the track. But I guess it was me who delirium (;-)))))

Data Center, that's the software provided by Sigma to manage its counters and particularly ROX 10.0 Moreover, the big changes in the past two years concerned. Frankly, it's a complete application. It allows for a multitude of things. The new format was a bit shy at first but in fact, I find it better that way. Caution, however, Sigma plays a bit like Apple sauce, it is contextual, ie the feature does appear that if you are in the right place. Today after spending time on Data Center, japprécie this software. There is also a feature to send the activity which you are directly Strava. Functional, I use it regularly.

Areas for improvement in my opinion:
The look is good but a flat screen is better. I'm not talking about touch, no, no, just a flat screen.
If it could be bluetooth, it would avoid the cable except the cable it is needed to load, an IQ charger (;-)))
A bigger zoom than 50m, especially for a brand new track?
Oh yes, GPS sensitivity, cycling, running, that you ask for! at home you must not work out. So is it possible to improve the sensitivity without it too begins the battery? I note some losses GPS connections to the HV line passage (see photo) and returns.

That said, today I find almost perfect.

Note: All photos except one are with the original protective film when the device is new. Photo where there is the User table on the Garmin 500 adjusted the film. The record is quite nice.

A final word on the Sigma SAV in France. I believe that there is no Sigma France SAV, there by cons a contact that you touch dailleurs quite quickly when you leave a message on the Sigma website. [...]
I just finished watching tonight, Sigma has updated the contact page.
