First the (few a few) postiven points:
- The navigation system was shipped with the actual card. I needed only my email address (with the I had already signed with the old device with TomTom) and enter the corresponding password, and I had no problems at once without connection activates the traffic services to the PC. The connection to the TomTom servers was made immediately.
- The 3D map is in the new version in my opinion really somewhat clearer than in the older models.
More positives I can not see, unfortunately, after a week of testing.
Now there are a few little things that no longer work in comparison to the old TomToms, but these features I do not think really matters
- You can no longer use the TomTom as a handsfree
- The installation of POIs is no longer possible
- You can not install any more own voices
- You can no longer false speed information (the like) in the map on the device
- You can no longer change the arrow symbol, which represents the current position in the 3D view. (In my old TomTom I had, appropriately chosen a black Combi to my car)
- It determines another missing features that I just never used. The menu is incredibly empty. There is virtually nothing more to set.
I can overlook the problems mentioned above, but the biggest problem, however, is the HD Traffic and the related route calculation:
Could with my old TomTom 1015 the traffic information has been received about a radius of 200 km around the current location. I thought that was unhappy here. I use the Navi practically only for long motorway journeys. When I am gone from Hamburg to Dortmund, there were basically two possible routes: Endweder I went via the A7 and A2 or A1 motorway. This decision I had to make already in Hamburg. The traffic information were now but only for a radius of 200 km available. A full closure of the A2 was here not shown, although according to Radio were here already 60km traffic jam. I now had hope that with the new TomTom this issue is resolved finally and the traffic information is obtained along the entire route. Unfortunately this is not so, on the contrary, the radius was reduced to about 70km. This is really no longer. I live in Flensburg and we went through the last weekend with the Navi to Hamburg. Currently, the Kiel Canal is closed due to construction work on trucks and the police approved via that here really go no trucks. This results in jams every night with 1.5 to 2.5 hours delay. The channel I can cross at 3 locations: in Husum, in Kiel and on the A7. For the alternatives (Due to the small radius) are now no traffic information more available. Neither one can now rely on the overall delay on the route, as these are currently only for the next 60km (up to 70km). If you start in Hamburg, the jam Rendsburg on the channel is not even included. The alternative would Husum, but again, you would have to decide already in Hamburg. In addition, another problem: Allegedly automatically calculates the fastest route TomTom. Before the channel I had Thursday night 60 minutes delay. TomTom has no alternative. Also manually can no longer alternative route can be calculated (the menu item no longer exists).
I'm just worn a departure in advance and drove on the road. TomTom has then another 5 minutes needed to understand to where I want to go long. Then suddenly jumped the
Arrival 50 minutes to the front. The old TomTom has sometimes not automatically found in this case, the correct route. But the short route was calculated by clicking on an alternative route but then found always.
Then there are 5 other problems that I really think is unacceptable:
- The internal voice "Lisa" (only female voice) no longer works. After initial announcement of Lisa she no longer speaks now for a week with me. (Only the voice, which can read street names, works. I would, however, being read to no street names. What ?! In addition, the voice sounds just very computationally choppy)
- The audible alarms for speeding or speed cameras also no longer function. Of course you can also set different tones no longer, or only choose a different tone. I had chosen in my old TomTom a small audible warning for Geschwingkeitsüberschreitungen and a significantly penetranteren for Blitzer.
- In the old TomTom view was all the information (distance to the destination, arrival time, current modem speed) at the bottom. That was OK. Now the display is scattered across the screen. At the top, which is precisely where one sees where one breaks forth, now is the distance when you have to turn the next time, and the card is covered here.
- The fonts in the display are much too small. This is a 6 '' screen, but the information in the right panel of the traffic information is just to read yet. The units, however, behind only under good lighting conditions. This is therefore disturbing, because the display of the remaining kilometers alternated with those of the remaining minutes. As long as you still have more than 1 hour driving time, which is clearly visible, as in the time is a colon. Under an hour standing here but only the minutes and the "min" is almost indistinguishable from "km".
I have garment with some of these problems directly to the TomTom Support, however, received only automated responses to date. After all, what else is on the Internet, an improvement for the middle of October (that is about now) planned at the problem with the voice well. For everything else, you get probably the answer is that TomTom would like to concentrate on the essentials and has therefore removed a lot of features.

A Navi without TomTom HD Traffic (the content is really good) you can get for about 150 Euro. Who buys this Navi would therefore have the HD Traffic. As the benefit, however, due to the 60km radius and the lack of alternative route calculate function practically does not exist, I can only strongly advise against the purchase of TomTom.
Anyone wishing to use the Navi only within a city, for the 60km radius could be sufficient. Maybe you can find also the automatic alternative route calculation. That is why there are still 2 stars.
