Installation is relatively fast and is self-explanatory. Then even registering with G-Data - Confirmation code will be sent by e-mail - Ready! Beautifully.
The interface of the program is structured clearly and logically.
I have automatic presetting of the program adopted (automatic mode for normal security) how safe most users who want to be only "safe" online easy.
The setting possibilities of the program are varied, but require a tremendous training or expertise to find the right settings and the hardware and software currently in use. So it leaves the average user probably in automatic mode.
The program runs in automatic mode relatively unnoticed in the background without any noticeable performance degradation when you have a current middle-class computers with quad-core processor and at least 8 GB of memory. Windows 8.1, however, reported from time to time a high resource utilization by G-Data, but that did not bother me at my work.
The intervention, which carries out the program to keep your PC clean and to protect against viruses and Trojans, a layman can not understand (one should certainly not). This then results when certain applications cause problems, a solution is practically difficult to find.
In my case occurred approximately 1 month usage problems receiving emails with Outlook 2013 (new update of G-Data Internet Security 2015 was previously installed in the background). The G Data software or actually Outlook suddenly indicated a no longer valid security certificate as a safety warning. In the beginning you could simply confirm the notice and the emails have been downloaded to the computer. Later, however, no longer worked and Outlook "froze when loading a". After several contacts with my Internet provider (of me ultimately friendly referred to the Outlook programmers from Microsoft), could really help me no one there and I was referred to the wide variety of Internet forums. Also in relevant forums on the Internet, I could not find a viable solution to my problem.
When G-Data Support on the Internet, was practically only one possible solution offered, which unfortunately did not work either.
After I have tried for several days various things in the program settings of G-Data, as protocol deletions, security levels adjustments and switching off the individual protective mechanisms of the program, there was only the uninstallation of the program is the only logical way out.
After uninstalling G-Data Internet Security of email received in Outlook 2013 was working again without any problems.
I use Norton Internet Security again, as on my previous computer and have for a month no more problems with any blockages.
My conclusion is therefore very ambivalent. On the one hand the security of G-Data Internet Security 2015 is really very good, even with Offline function for testing files on USB flash drives and other storage media, on the other hand the hunger for resources for older systems is to be regarded critically. Is hardest for me, however, that problems with individual applications that require one day, virtually no proper support is offered.
I can G-Data Internet Security 2015 therefore only recommend limited.
