This is my tenth scanner. Something I did not like the other scanners insane.
The affordable pure slide scanner are extremely slow and often very impractical.
While the Rollei 190SE standalone scanner delivers useful results, but has no dust removal and dirty itself very quickly, resulting in more dust on the scans.
While the flatbed scanner can scan images good, but usually have no dust removal for slide scans. Negative not go. Specks of dust or fingerprints are not rid of.
The Canon makes everything very well. He works extremely fast, is very quiet, the lid can be lifted easily, thanks to a spring. Only the negative holder leaves something to be desired.
Slide and negative scans I do with 1800 dpi. Experts are indeed turn up their noses, where nothing goes under true 4800 dpi, but I do not see any advantage. Even at 5x magnification, no difference can be detected.
The 1800dpi scans need per slide about 70 seconds with dust and scratch removal in full blast! Madness!
All 4 slides with prescan need 5 minutes!
The 4800dpi scan takes approximately 290 seconds
