Now for a not yet mentioned problem that I had with an external drive for the first time ever. The manufacturer has their missed a non-compliant MBR (Master Boot Record). With this it is not possible to boot from the disk, even if it supports the PC via USB. A deletion of the partition helps nothing, since only the entry in the partition table of the MBR will be deleted. You have to drive for. B. Windows 7 with the word "clean" from the Windows command "diskpart" completely erase ("clean all" is not necessary) after selecting the plate with "select disk [disk number]" , But be careful! Here you quickly sometimes selected with "select" the wrong plate and then the built-in disk is deleted! So carefully about doing this ("list disk" by the way all lists currently recognized in the system (connected) plates). Only after Windows writes when creating a new partition and a clean bootable MBR on the disk. Annoying was with me that since I had already been saved several hundred GB of data on the disk, and had to do everything and start fresh. Why the manufacturer these "vestigial" MBR brings to the board, me remains a mystery. But in any case a star deduction for an otherwise 5-star plate.
Nevertheless, I would the hard disk at any time to buy me back, because it otherwise operates reliably and is extremely quiet.
Addendum 12.10.2010: In the meantime I have four 512GB versions of the plates and have to say that these boards are extremely simple to operate.
A depends now directly to the USB port of my Fritzbox as NAS without external power supply (and with only a USB cable) and running smoothly. Video streaming works with her perfectly. Even under full load no stuttering. Failure to use them will be offset from the box in standby mode (engine off) and reactivate quickly as needed. A WD Elements 1.5TB previously used and brought many Bildruckler require its own power supply. The Intenso, however, is for this purpose as created. Now I have ordered my 1TB version to still have a little more space.
Now because of the many advantages I give the full 5 stars.
Addendum 02/01/2011: In the meantime I have a 1TB HDD Intenso. It is a little higher (2-3 mm) than its "smaller relatives" but in the same style. She has replaced a 500GB HDD at my Fritz box and running smoothly on the side there is also USB. Also, she works almost inaudibly.
