I can after two months of daily use of the hype not share so completely and would like to speak off the good experiences that I have quite critical.
Data to my apartment (for comparison with their own environment):
* Kitchen (Roomba charging station stands there)
* Living room: very large (about 45 sqm)
* Hallway
* From the corridor then into the bedroom
* And on the other side of the hallway to the bathroom.
A total of 89 square meters.
1st floor plan
The allocation is intended that the Roomba cleans the rooms one after the other in order to increase the probability that he gets all the points of a room.
I really tried a lot, but the main problem is the large living room, which I can not divide. Here the Roomba cleans therefore not so thoroughly, which is quite annoying. Split I have in the kitchen (Start), living room, hall + bedroom, bathroom. The result for the Roomba a succession arrangement of the rooms, what he really needs.
Unfortunately, it often that the Roomba recent space no longer visited (Bad) and sets off to the charging station. I fear that this will not get better with age of the device, because sure the battery diminishes with time.
2. Intelligence - clean everything?
Sorry folks, but that part is stupid. It remembers absolutely not know how the rooms look like and do not really know where it is precisely. It seems to me more like a blind man who gropes in the room.
Finished the Roomba cleaning before it has reached all areas (eg, it has seen the last lighthouse him but no longer exceeds but drives sometime home), then he starts definitely not the next time at the boisterous room but simply from the front.
Large rooms are really a problem. The balances are actually only by the fact that you can run every day the Roomba. When dirt in the carpet (eg bright fluff in the dark carpet) that is naturally stupid, if the will only after three days perhaps away times.
Lovely, too, if he spends about 20 minutes under my three bar stools, because he no longer comes out and he apparently only after 15 minutes, the driving strategy changes.
3. Cleanup for Roomba
Granted, my bottom was never so free of stuff. But I mean that it's not really a relief for me if I every morning:
* All chairs must provide high because the Roomba does not come through between the legs
* Furniture must superscript with bars on the ground (eg drying rack or cantilever) because the Roomba they "climb" and sometimes there remains - forever
* The power of my Macbook Air has to get to safety, because the thin cord from the AC adapter to the notebook otherwise destroyed (really - he chewed the insulation - is the part of time been a dog) is
* Shoes must superscript, otherwise they will be run over and taken really in the shortage (see thereafter Filzlatschen very interesting - and the brush of the Roomba is full of felt)
* My expectation would be that a robot in 2012 is able to identify such obstacles and situations and act accordingly.
4. Crash Sensors
Certainly very useful if you live multistory. But I do not. For my brown Ikea rug is a taboo for him. For me incomprehensible that I can not turn off these sensors - at your own risk. Instead, I have to cover it with a paper and Tesa, which then after 1.5 months but dissolves times. For such an expensive device but rather a schrabbeliger workaround.
5. Hard Drive under furniture
As with the theme of "tidying up" have to adapt here the Roomba and not he has to adapt. That's world turned upside down right?
Firstly, I had to make my bed higher so he can get under the center guardrail and not with its sensor always dagagen skin and scratched it.
Secondly, my bed is a fold-/ sleeping. The floor of the sofa is in front normally high even and then goes back direction but gene floor. The Roomba clean, moves and remains firmly on one leg there. If so, a blocking lighthouse but apparently does not always work, anyway, he was twice in two months anyway under the sofa - bogged down naturally.
6. retrieving the charging station
I have as I said three partitions. When Roomba decides to want to go home, he needed some really long and not go systematically. By Room dividers he should know in what room he's in which the charging station and space which comes before / after which room. Instead drives sometimes again in the back rooms back what I now can not understand and encouraged me in the sense that he is stupid (sorry).
Please do not get me wrong. I think, the Roomba is a help when you yourself have to fight for vacuuming. He cleans large and quite good, but it requires quite a bit of its owner. I would just expect that he's smarter. I just do not know that I must consider my vacuum cleaner when purchasing new furniture doer carpets.
In this respect, I would really recommend that, as a unit test a) and honestly to consider whether it makes sense and b) mglws. switch to a smaller model, so you spend not very much money for a Tastroboter.
The 780 was interesting for me especially because the HEPA filter, because I'm allergic. A noticeable improvement in my apartment in this respect to last year I have not had, but of course I do not know how it would have been this year without the Roomba.
