XORO HRS 8560 digital satellite receiver (HDTV, DVB-S2, HDMI, SCART, PVR-Ready, USB 2.0) (Electronics)

Customer Review

Hello,

the Xoro 8560 is really small, about the size of postcards, all "important" connections are available (USB, unfortunately only at the front), the remote control is not just big but really well laid out and easy to handle, this makes but loud "click targets "noises when pressing the buttons, which also determines some might disturb the overall impression is very" cheap ", but the receiver responds quite well to the remote control, the buttons are not vague and it does not always" exactly "thus allowing a more relaxed zapping (at least at my distance of approximately 3m, the receiver I still need the FB align but they responded've been better than my other, the old receiver).

The favorite lists can not work separately, you can assign individual programs to different favorite lists only from the complete list out, you want to be but, in retrospect, change the order of channels in the individual favorite lists, which is not, unfortunately, so MUST you sort the overall list, their order is then also the only order for all favorite lists (of course that is unnecessarily complicated since in the overall list like to several hundred channels are to be sorted, and so it is not possible, each individual favorites list an own station order to giving)
Also rename the favorite lists is not possible, so you have to with the default name of the lists Life (movie, sports, news, music, etc.).

Very good I think the low power consumption of this tiny, he even has an "auto-off" circuit, which enables the receiver, in a desired period of time (up to 3 hours) by itself in the stand-by when longer on the remote time be made no more entries (this feature can also be turned off completely), what to me as "On-TVschauen professional Einschläfer" liked a lot, as you can see the display in 8! Regulate brightness levels and also turn off the standby clock throughout, which further affects stomsparend.

The image that provides the receiver is really good, I have a much more expensive receivers are here (also HD 1080p), which for the image materials lighter and detail accurately delivers not quite as crisp sharp but because of Xoro Although makes against a darker impression (details in dark areas are somewhat less) but for a truly sharp image, with SD material looks the image reproduction, compared to my more expensive model, something "dirty" from what darker even at the higher sharpness and slightly may be playing.
Also great is in the image settings of the receiver that it is possible to switch from 50Hz / PAL to 60Hz / NTSC, which is truly exemplary and of great benefit if you want to watch foreign channels.
In Pal program setting 60Hz / NTSC shows but a slight, permanent judder in the picture.

The sound, however, came to me often times asynchronously before, especially in HD channels, which is yet so much struck me with any other satellite receivers, although there are always times before (even with such expensive models), but the Xoro 8560 it was clear from the outset to see / hear, unfortunately, the receiver has no way to correct this in the menu, otherwise it provides AC3 and even RAW as sound playback formats.

The TimeShift function is limited availability, so the receiver does not automatically records the current program so that you can not rewind spontaneously to a missed or simply interesting scene to look again, the TimeShift function is activated with the press the pause button is activated and before and rewind is thus only in the recorded area possible, which was recorded from pressing the pause button (quite a lot, even cheap receivers, this feature offer but there are also so-called "premium manufacturer," that this function persistently refuse, eg TechniSat).
Unfortunately for me took the receiver ne small eternity until he, by pressing the Pause button, then finally the hard drive approached (an NTFS formatted 1TB Western Digital 2012, with its own power supply and USB 2.0 port, which else in any receiver problems aufwieß), the receiver took good 1-3 seconds to address the panel and to start the TimeShift and every time.

Also, the EPG is a more stripped down version but very fast, it is always only the EPG of a single transmitter display (there is therefore no overview with multiple transmitters), but can it switch quickly between the transmitters and has ready pretty quickly all data , this then switches but unfortunately the current program to, which is also still completely covered by the EPG picture content, there is not a small preview window in which the current program is shown.

PVR recordings succeed against it quite well and are easy to program.
Whether you can look in parallel during recording, even stations that are on the same transponder as the program that is being recorded (what some single tuner receiver control), I have not tested here, according to a previous review, this should be but its possible.

Otherwise the small Xoro 8560 is a tidy device that (for me at least) a small number is likely to be "better" equipped, but I would have liked to spent a bit more but for the usual price, between 30-40, who is Xoro 8560 a fairly well-equipped device, which may also have an acceptable image performance.
For very serious, I think the unnecessarily complicated sort channel lists and the sound quite often is asynchronous (at least on my machine), and the remote control should like to make a wertigeren impression, because it is, after all, "the tool" that makes the receiver ,

For me, a total of a bit "too dirty / gross" SD-image display, the receiver has no automatic TimeShift, only unnecessarily complicated allows you to sort the channel lists, conspicuously often had an asynchronous sound when HD broadcasts (already without AV receiver between ) and the EPG is only limited to a transmitter, the knock-out criteria for this receiver (like I said, he would also like may cost a little more, and it can be easy valent)

As a small, power-efficient second TV or as a pure recording receiver or Media Player (reads many formats), as a garden or youth bedroom Receiver can I Xoro 8560 highly recommended, as "THE" Living Receiver I would but otherwise looking ...
