Rapture you have seen once have

Bioshock has already some years under his belt, but I have the disc
unearthed after prolonged abstinence again and dared again to go through.
It took me the game, though it is anything but currently, excited again.
Why? I'll explain in the following evaluation

--- Welcome to Rapture ---

The game starts off rapidly - one assumes control after a plane crash in
Sea swimming. The only escape route leading to a small tower in the open sea.
Therein one encounters a bathysphere that you activated out of necessity and thus plunges -
according to Rapture.

The ride down to the bottom of the sea in the forgotten city of Rapture is undoubtedly one
the most memorable intros to which I can remember.
The accompanying song "Welcome to Rapture" fits brilliantly to the scene and can already
imagine that at the end of the dive trip no nice welcome delegation with brass band and
Champagne is waiting for the player.

I do not want to reveal too much, just as much about the further course of Story:
To achieve the goal is not a Sunday outing and only a few NPCs are the
Players here to help. ;)

--- GAMEPLAY ---

WEAPONS:
Bioshock is basically a 1st-person shooter. The player is at the beginning only a
Pipe wrench as a weapon available. As the game journeyman classical firearms
as revolver, shotgun, gun, crossbow or grenade launchers to, but also a chemotherapeutic throwers
can be found in the big city under water.
The weapons can be rare "Power to the people" in terms of damage and stations

automatic turrets and surveillance cameras. If you are caught by a camera

ADAM AND THE LITTLE SISTERS:
Very special inhabitants of Rapture are the "little sisters" - Little girls barefoot
and with a large syringe armed by Rapture scurry and thus dead bodies ADAM
aspirate. ADAM is the valuable substance to vending machines to plasmids and tonics
can replace. Caught you a "little sister" can save them either, what a small
Amount ADAM brings, or they "harvest", for more ADAM, sure but you sacrifice the girl.

--- OPTICS AND ATMOSPHERE ---

Although Bioshock already has under his belt a few years, the graphics, even for
By today's standards still largely convincing. The Lost City is under water
beautifully designed, shines with many details and different design areas.
Very nice light and shadow spoil the players, only the NPCs are
relatively Polygonarm and their animations are slightly wooden, but in the year of publication
is due and can hardly tarnish the very positive overall impression.

The great strength of Bioshock is undoubtedly the atmosphere. Even the great intro,
So the diving trip to Rapture, where time stopped in the 50s
seems to be, is just awesome.
The game draws a such a spell that you simply will not want to stop.
A large share of the enthralling atmosphere has also done soundtrack,
exactly matches the gloomy underwater setting.

--- TECHNICAL ---

INSTALLATION:
The installation itself goes quickly, the game would be activated subsequently online,
While what goes relatively quickly and does not involve activation limit with it, the DVD has to play
but then still be in the drive. Widescreen users should apply the patch available,
the first integrated support for widescreen displays.

My system consists of i5-750, GTX 470, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 - 64 Bit (+ XP - 32 bit)
I play with all settings at max. Here, the V-RAM was with max. 680 MB filled.
An anti-aliasing in the game is virtually non-existent, it can be but my nVidia drivers
force, which again gives the look a nice added value.
On Windows XP (DX 9) there was with me always FPS dips, which are characterized by a permanent brief
"Snagging" noticeable made. In contrast, the game runs on Win 7 in DX 10 - mode
absolutely smoothly.

There were no crashes or bugs

--- --- CONCLUSION

There are games that you can play over and over again - this includes Bioshock.
Even if you know the story already history, the genial atmosphere pulls the player
even after the playthrough again under his spell.
For this purpose a great look and an unusual setting and you've got a game
that one should have played at least once in his life.
