Graphics: The graphics are nice. If you play around a bit in the settings, you have a really nice game at the end. The figures look good. The cutscenes look graphically beautiful.
Story: The story is, as the name suggests, the story of the Lord of the Rings movies / books. At the story is nothing to complain.
Gameplay: The figures can be controlled very well, the most fun is with a controller. The characters are almost all different properties, making it but unfortunately this is that you have to switch between characters repeatedly to solve different tasks in the missions. So you have with Sam every 2 minutes light a fire or a plant dig. That is very boring and monotonous after a while. Unfortunately, almost every mission from such tasks. The old Lego games were rather designed for destroying enemies while you have to mainly solve puzzles in Lego Lord of the Rings, which appear very similar after a while all. There is little missions in which you have to really fight. That was, for example, in Lego Star Wars I and II more often. At the end still a big plus: The map is very big and you can pass through freely, which gave me at the end of a lot of fun. This makes Lego Lord of the Rings better than the previous. However, I do not like how long you have to look for the purchasable characters. I liked better in Lego Star Wars with a shop.
Conclusion: Lego Lord of the Rings is clearly not a bad game. Play for puzzle fans and fans of Lord of the Rings or the Lego it is recommended. However, if one more is on the combat missions, I recommend the slightly older Lego games like Lego Star Wars - The Complete Saga (Lego Star Wars I and II in a game)
