I'll try for Unsuspecting to declare (* 1), and press it all little complicated on purpose from - I want so compete with the super cool sophisticated Super-reviews with the many updates and technical refinements NOT, but I even found that the one or the other review here with so many technical terms seems a bit overloaded and therefore also that actually so simple box conveys a technically sophisticated impression.
I've let me tell of two people who have seen the Fire TV with me, but did not want games and network and rooting and XTMB-haste does not belong .... "That sounds too complicated, I do not need!" --- "This is too much technology, I can never set up anything without help!"
This is the motivation for the simple explanation - and ...
... There is also a reason why I appreciate the little black Kastl (* 2) as follows: It is easy! It can be only for on-demand television use (Some of what you can still do so, a then perhaps comes naturally to mind and if you try little by little, it might not be so bad. And here I can only the many useful reviews and advice from colleagues * * refer that can much (games, apps, photos, access to NAS servers, images, music services ...) to better explain classes ;-)

Fire TV is a small box that allows that you can watch movies / TV series on demand on the associated television. When you want, as often as you like. Live streaming, it's called in the trade as well. These movies are only "stored" since you have to be to take care of anything, just look, or press Pause and look further when you want (the thing remembers that); before or rewind of course goes.
(Many televisions today are already SMART TV, so if you have a device does not, Fire TV is a useful addition, as this can make a good HD device still * smart *.)
So you need to a network / Wi-Fi Internet (the Fire TV then logs quickly after initial power and want to be registered on the network, or - if someone does not like WLAN or has -. Connected to a network cable to a router network cable is not included in delivery, the Fire TV is a LAN plug socket available!)
In addition to connecting the box with an HDMI cable (not supplied) to the TV device and you're set. (Important: You have probably have fast wireless internet, you have to ask about his Internet service provider if you do not know it.)
HDMI cables are optional with equal offered above if you want to buy the device, I recommend love to the Amazon Basic cable, but you should choose as short as necessary the cable so that it prevents unnecessary clutter. There are also, for example 0.9m HDMI cable.
The Fire TV box gets a power plug (which is included) and the power Doofe this: There's no off switch. The irritated quite a lot, because I am one still to those who like to park unused devices. However, it is quite simple, you can connect the plug from the Fire TV into a power strip with on / off switch and turn on only when you use it; or by hand into the outlet. Sounds complicated, but save some energy. The menu then starts each time and it takes a few seconds longer than if you do not unpluging. When it namely not unpluging, it is always in standby and shows on the screen screensaver pictures (see the way, quite nice ...).
- The small remote control performs a (somewhat haphazardly and getting used to) menu on the screen, which might not seem so messy after a while use, but the remote is after all so helpful that it has a voice recognition!
- Speech Recognition: Performs quite unerringly to search results - How? You press the button with the microphone on the remote control and says * * James Bond and all Bond films are available for selection. They say * Documentation * and gets interesting documentaries listed. This is a useful thing, because a kind of overview is very difficult to make out at the movies and series offer.
- Watchlist: Random findings mark? One can find - randomly or intentionally - a movie you sometime but would like to see, you can save it in its Watchlist. Can be useful, because as I said: Overview in the selection of offers, quite difficult ..
- Costs? If one is Amazon Prime customer (cost an annual fee of 49 Euro) there is a good selection of movies you can then choose free which can be recognized by the PRIME icon and there in the menu, a selection the ONLY lists such PRIME offers , These, for example, TV series, because of which there are about PRIME (ie free) tired. Grey's Anatomy, crime scene cleaner, Schimanski ... documentaries, children's movies, children's series ...
- Pay movies? Current (newer) Movies are usually not available on PRIME, but by additional costs, but they are recognizable on the screen. So you stumble inadvertently not a pay movie.
- Only Amazon offers available? No. I use eg (until further notice) nor Netflix, or have already recognized the value of some apps (for libraries).
- NETFLIX: This is another provider of online movies on demand (streaming service, they say this too), for that you have to sign in to Netflix and pay a monthly fee. In addition, you have to Fire TV even an app download, which is free, sign up for it and then you can (which seems a bit chaotic, as the Amazon) on the user interface view also NETFLIX movies and series at no additional cost. The program of Netflix is a good addition to the Amazon (Prime), but really ALL Hollywood blockbusters and innovations can not be found there also. These again TV series.
- APPS ?? There are already a lot of additional apps that are mostly available for free, in the way that apps on a tablet (the Fire TV's a sort tablet, except that the screen is just the TV;)
BILD, Spiegel TV, ARD or ZDF media libraries so you can look over APPs also.
- Amazon Music: If you have already purchased MP3s or CD albums with the option AutoRip Amazon, these albums appear under the "Amazon Music menu" and you can play them over. Whether that makes sense you have to decide for themselves, because the screen then does admittedly little, but if you can run a good AVR receiver, it is more practical than some other playback options, of which there are certainly a plethora. (Here many roads lead to Rome ...) The menu structure if you already have a lot of albums, or artists in its Amazon cloud, is a bit cumbersome. Where, however, you look good playlists trimmed from its acquired titles, then Amazon Music is fun.
- WHAT ELSE? You can take the Fire TV make it even a lot more. Use it as a game console and play Android apps, and manage images on and play back your own movies ... and just much, much more, but I did not think anything so important and therefore also can not go into it and want to.
- Connect hardware? One can thus connect a keyboard (Bluetooth) a mouse or a gamepad ... If you want to use it for - certainly for Games useful.
- Manual? A separate manual is not available for Fire TV, at least not in the scope of supply. Many of your questions from the great reviews here, it is worth to advocate to take time. (At the point Thanks for all the painstaking reports.)

Can I get you not lose weight, but some issues that could introduce yourself and answer. - One could consider in advance the following:
* If you want to use the offer of series and movies? (If you like to look like and much series, Fire TV is a hot tip!)
* If you are ready to prime customer and pay for an annual fee? (If you're already PRIME customer, the question is not necessary ...;)
* If you have a HDMI slot on the TV free? (I have the Fire TV, like all other devices via an AVR receiver connected to the TV.)
- Who can buy it now ...
If one is to buy the Fire TV ready and when you do it with his Amazon customer account, it is practically already joined to a connecting itself by parcel at home and you just have to have. (Of course also connect the same to the wireless network, but you need a password, and of course you have to know its own wireless network.)

As a longtime customer Sky I'm slowly but surely to the point where I goes by the fun, because here even advertising is forced before the Anytime movies. I do not like that. And I like movies and series then look when I have the time - and without ads.
, Current series: Many TV series come with us no longer to be on TV, a lot comes fortunately still on Sky Anytime quite promptly, but I have many things but then bought on DVD / BluRay and now attributable: HOMELAND - completely * the Kastl * looked.
