Unfortunately you can not see whether this also applies to the TV or just for the Smartphone / Tabet this sentence.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, LG G2 and Asus Fone pad on Samsung TV's tested with external power source and I always get the message "No Signal" on TV.
Because even now, many people have this brand at home I would leave it alone.
My adapter finds its way back to the dealer!
Addendum:
Tested again today with a Sony smartphone on Samsung TV and it works. But brings me nothing, because I have a Samsung phone.
