Description, reviews and story seem to point to a SF for teens. With my 61 years, the film has also impressed me by its construction, the plot and also the effects. Firstly, it is an interesting and in the end also surprising variation on the theme "Humanity is fighting against alien invasion". Then there is a lot of food for lovers of technical SF in the form of combat training in zero gravity, space battles, blasting cannons and computer-service surfaces. But the most exciting I found the presentation of the formation of a rather uncertain youth to a military strategist and tactician. It is not in my view the focus so much on the technical skills, but social skills: to assess and exploit, in the right places to compromise or go with full force in the confrontation, the balance between command hierarchy weaknesses of opponents and allies and to find team spirit and the political balancing of risks and rewards. The plant and the development of all these skills are presented convincingly and are also reflected in appearance, facial expressions, gestures and language of the main character. One could read the film almost as a modern-age novel. 5 stars for the unusual and successful blend of elements
