That changes when Atticus defense of Tom Robinson takes over, a black worker who is accused of raping a young white man. Soon it becomes clear how deeply racism and prejudice against blacks in the population are rooted, but Atticus can not be diverted from his fight for justice ...
A very wonderful book, which has become a classic and rightly so. Harper Lee succeeds excellently himself into Scouts childish world and to describe the events from their perspective and at the same time give a great plea for justice and humanity.
Atticus Finch is one of the best father figures that I have encountered in the literature: a clever, level-headed man who persistently his way goes in its own quiet way and his beliefs represent, his children with tact and subtle irony often casually life lessons mitgibt and it makes them not easy, but always gives confidence.
Despite the serious subject and some drama and tragedy, the book is neither a kitschy melodrama that transported the message with the mallet, even a dry, constructed treatise - Harper Lee has a wonderful sense of humor that makes every now and again for Schmunzelmomente, and distinguishes itself smallest supporting characters admirably with a few brushstrokes.
Unconditional recommendation, a wonderful book!
