And I have to say I was not disappointed. That DM 50 is set up and connected quickly and since then has been pretty unremarkable under my LCD TV. Speaking connected. The connections are my only real gripe. To I would have liked more optical ports connect to Apple TV, PS3 and Sky decoder so (is now actually the only contemporary Connection). So I have to still buy a switch adapter to be able to switch between multiple devices at one optical output. A bit annoying, offering Canton improvement potential for downstream devices.
How's the sound? This is always a very subjective question. I am satisfied. In movies you just low frequency but a much richer basis than with the pure TV speakers. Music comes in stereo mode very balanced and to provide sound with enough bang for the whole apartment including neighbors (wirelessly be sent by BT from the iPhone or iPad music to the system works fantastically!). Criticized here is indeed often just the bass range - mE not rightly or only on false expectations. I think the system does amazing here, although of course not the bass larger subwoofer is reached (which is physically impossible yes). Oh surround sound, 5.1 simulation is of course nonsense. I did neither expected nor was it important to me - but manufacturers have to probably at least try because it is important to many customers. Who wants to hear explosions behind his sofa, which just needs to buy a normal 5.1 system, because there is no way around it.
I would recommend the Canton system which is almost fully recommend - more connection possibilities please yet, then there are also the fifth star. Manufacturers You have finally still be "room for improvement" ;-).
