From the outset it must be said that the game plays it safe leaving us a myriad of elements from games already released. We find a character that looks like a Witcher, a game and a gameplay style closer to Assassin's Creed and a combat system quite close to a Batman Arkham. But it must be said, though of course they pumped the other game elements, they pumped the intelligent way in virtually eliminating any defects present in the other games listed.
You are now in control of a Northern Ranger stationed at the Black Gate long before the events of The Lord of the Rings and who will succumb to the onslaught of the forces of Sauron. He wakes up still with powers beyond the mere mortal he had decided to take revenge on the forces of evil through Mordor. Do not seek the truth about this story through books of Tolkien, there are none. Only a few will come true elements scattered the game but overall they left room for artistic creation.
We realize from the first moments that the game is really beautiful and the atmosphere of Mordor is rather successful. The game draws heavily from Peter Jackson's films throughout whether for places or characters.
The gameplay so it looks like a highly Assassin's Creed. You are free to go anywhere you like (while remaining in Mordor unfortunately) to complete various quests available to you. There are of course a main frame and all the side quests. You climb, run and jump with the best flexibility ever met which makes it very enjoyable. Free with you then to go and fight the Uruk with your sword, your bow or be the blade of the assassin who will play discretion.
Combat is then as simple keystrokes / Combots and parades that allow you to clear the ranks of Uruks violent and bloody manner (decapitation is required) and must say that it is so successful that Quench quickly. As for travel, everything is fluid and truly wants what's good because we will have to cut off the heads.
At the sound level we find some really captivating music that stick well with the universe. The FR is not so bad dubbing and sound effects are consistent. The only real thing that shocked me was not the translation when some guards burst into song.
The only real risk of the game now the Nemesis system that is supposed to present the cast of Uruk with different leaders and change according to your actions. Killing a warlord may cause the rise of a more junior Uruk for example. On paper it's quite nice because it allows you to organize small "murders" and small conspiracies. Still, the system quickly reached its limits.
The life is more honest if you decide to run in all quests.
Blackheads unfortunately we are in Mordor after all.
- The game is pretty simple. Once you understand and clearly understand the battle system it is rare to die even at 30 against 1. Will come only put you in trouble some enemies with special features rather violent but remain rare.
- The slightly soft story. It's not like yavait nothing to do with a world such as Middle Earth. No visits to emblematic places in the area.
- Repetition. If the main frame goes well, especially with the beautiful cutscenes that coat everything, side quests is something else. They are indeed too little variety and are quickly becoming a small chore if you decide to chain the.
- The sets, also little changed. Being able to walk around in Middle-earth (ok in Mordor) is really excellent especially that once again the game is really pretty. Nice so much that they made a SHIFT just to integrate a screen capture camera system with some filtering options. Very nice, but we found all the time in the same kind of places namely the plains, ruins and some small towns / forts. A little variety would be welcome even though I understand that this region is supposed to be little.
- The Nemesis system. As said above he wants rather interesting and innovative but it quickly reached its limits. I think it was deliberately done to avoid losing players along the way but it's somewhere shame for a system that really has potential.
- Like any modern games, the Season Pass for not super obvious elements. I do not say any more because I'm not moving to the US.
In the end a very nice surprise although again the game types in sound values rather than truly innovate. With such a license, however there are carefree happiness.
A suite with different regions would be welcome.
The game is played via the Steam platform with a unique code provided. Check well as prices of codes on other sites are much more attractive than the prices offered for the boxed version.
