A compact camera is for me still the drug of choice when it comes to quick snapshots. Certainly make SLR or system camera better pictures, but first they are unwieldy and secondly always a piece remains wide anxiety about the good, usually also expensive piece when images are to be made in places where certainly there is a chance that the camera comes into contact with water or sand, or is exposed to other dangers. Even a heated, moist bathroom is usually already not recommended environment for electronic or optical instruments. The Nikon S33 is a good candidate, because it is not only water-resistant to 10m (Doctor Klöbner himself would have appreciated it - and not only he) but also shockproof. The lens does not extend out for yourself when zooming and so also there is no danger of an objective disorder. Anyone whose compact camera has been turned on once undesirable and had to then fight with this problem knows what I'm talking about; all others may consider themselves lucky that they experience has been spared so far. Operation is very simple, the four buttons next to the display of the camera are provided either with symbols or written instructions, so that neither a manual nor the study of such are needed for use - the small Nikon explained quasi by itself. When you turn it shows cute, ever-changing images, suggesting children as a target group, however, can be the off the menu. However, should not be disabled, the variant menu, because three scene programs are no longer available then. These are another very nice gimmick on the camera; with little effort can be generated and afterwards edit images with the camera pretty effects. Useful and thoughtful function underwater Face Detection is by means of which the photographer does not own the (cool) must wet, but merely holds the camera into the water and then automatically take pictures when a face is detected. After recording frame or other effects in the category are then play Photos available. This is certainly also at younger audiences but geared itself for older semesters as very charming me, because even without a PC, the images can quickly and easily edit. The quality of the pictures is actually good, the macro mode, for example (see picture of the insect, this was about 3mm long, image sent by camera and enlarged and cropped photo of Daisy) knows immediately convince. The flash will light even in total darkness from very good, but sometimes behaves a bit headstrong, because it temporarily refuses to work in automatic mode although he would urgently needed. He can, however, turn on manually, so I see no problem. The images can convince with bright colors, even on the sharpness or the shutter lag is there nothing wrong, merely storing the images will be faster, so a fast SD card should always be used. In continuous shooting mode, the leisurely save fortunately affects not disturbing; even multiple images in a row to be added without difficulty. The camera takes only some time after this to write to the SD card. The compact cameras have long been standard belonging ability to record videos, there are also, but I find them - as with all cameras in this class - is neither necessary nor useful. If you want to make videos is ergonomically much more appropriate devices as compact cameras. Nevertheless, Full HD movies can of course be done if desired with the S33.
Conclusion: The Nikon S33 is a universal compact camera with a large through their durability and waterproofness application. It is easy to use and the picture quality is measured by the price, good. It also offers some very nice features when recording and subsequent processing of images.
