Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM Lens (62mm filter thread) for Canon lens mount (Camera)

Customer Review

The new Sigma 30mm 1: 1.4 has evolved at lightning speed to my favorite glass on my EOS 650D. What I did not expect: The creative possibilities that arise due to the high light intensity, make for me the limitations of the fixed prime lens over my standard zoom (the Canon EF-S 18-55) more than offset. 30mm is (to APS-C) is simply a very universal focal length. On my EF 40mm 2.8 STM I have a lot of fun, but the focal length of 40mm is in many situations a bit long and between the light intensity of 1: Worlds 1.4: 2.8 and 1.

Nevertheless, one has to know that the potential will be used with great care to aperture and also requires some practice. Those who want a sharp image an entire party company in dim lighting, the lens also helps this not ignore the use of a flash. For the focusing range is at maximum aperture simply too small and this is precisely the special attraction. In the area of the focal plane, the image quality is however convincing way to the border area even at full aperture. Evocative pictures in difficult lighting conditions are the highlight of this lens for me.

The perceived quality is beyond doubt. The focus is working in cooperation with my Canon super fast, virtually silent and very accurately. Even manual focus is very well supported by the wide, smooth running focus ring. The included, also very solid processed stable lens hood protects the front lens in my eyes very well, so I'll refrain from buying a filter for protection purposes. My camera is with this compact but relatively heavy piece of very good in the hand.

A few months ago I had already ordered the predecessor (EX) model and because Promblemen with the autofocus (then on my EOS 450D) sent back. I lacked then the courage to get involved in a subsequent adjustment. The new model can be possible (but in my case not occurred) differences in interaction with the body to compensate by using the available for about 50 EUR USB docks. Another distinct advantage over the old EX I see in the minimum focusing distance of 40cm reduced to 30cm. First that does not sound like much, but expands the possibilities considerably.
