some have read determined six months ago my review of the HTC One M8 phone.
The S5 I got a cell phone companies now in the short term, I can now also review this phone.
One thing first:
- I am a former Apple Fan Boy (had 4, 4S, and 5) and I switched to HTC M8
- The S5 I use a day at least as often as the M8, as business mobile
- I'm not a hardcore user!
For Style:
The screen is nice and clear and makes a high quality impression. With appropriate protective film is also well protected from scratches. On the upper left side you will be pointed with LEDs on events. These are color tunable (Ex .: Purple LED = Whatsapp message). Also looks great. On the lower soft-touch buttons incorporated (Multitasking + Back). The frame and all the rest makes a cheap plastic feel. In all probability, the phone is just as vulnerable in crashes as iPhone & HTC.
-> Of all 3 phones (iPhone, HTC and S5) cuts in my opinion the worst S5 in Design from. At a suggested retail price of about 600 here you get a plastic bomber technically Although much can but outside also looks rather modest!
To function:
Actually, the phone has everything you need, at least for me. How then but also implement all technically is the whole different story. The device is always quick, all applications can be very fluid play and use, the unit will start within about 15 seconds, the battery lasts through better than with some other phones.
What I really like here is the power saving mode. When HTC M8 there is in the somewhat simpler variant (z. B. without that you can use Whatsapp). Here there is an extreme power-saving mode, the underclocks performance and the CPU / RAM / display so that the battery not only keeps several hours but in some cases whole days (emergency program). Here, certain functions can be switched on and off; emails, WLAN, 3G, Whatsapp etc.
A display provides information about how long the battery in these settings still persevere.
Another plus is the certification for dust and water protection. I have it still not even tried, but especially for humid and dusty environments, this is a nice addition. The battery cover is particularly formed and sealed, as well as the USB connector.
There is one thing that has already disturbed me when HTC: The camera. I do not do very often photos, but when then should also look neat and sharp. Often this is the S5 unfortunately not the case, so you have to press and control the shutter button repeatedly. Points does the camera, however, by car triggers strong LED flash and all other filters such as B / W or U / V.
Battery:
Eben already on it entrances. In short; In normal use, so talk Whatsapp, Internet, mail, the battery lasts about 1-2 games with something more than a day. But almost any normal person the phone anyway invites night, the little problems should present. Thanks to the many setting possibilities can conjure much.
Pre:
In addition to the normal Android come from the factory, of course, again tens of Apps that are pre-installed. Some can be removed or disable so, others only root. Speed or battery loss I can not determine.
What I particularly find that the S5 unlike the iPhone does not need as much space.
Short Conclusion:
The S5 is fast and well equipped, but also look just not high quality. The iPhone can be upgraded nich and one has to rely on firmware updates that make or slow down the system sometimes faster. The camera on the iPhone is clearly better than the S5 and HTC M8. The best and most stable design in my opinion the M8 (aluminum casing) - Unfortunately, this makes it a bit heavier than the plastic bombers from Samsung.
4/5 stars because the design is poorly done and the camera does not work as advertised.
