The effusive praise of the sound quality of cassette - "impeccable sound quality", "exactly the same quality as ..", "sound .. very good" (review of 2 May) I can not confirm. The sound quality is, as another reviewer writes, "satisfactory", but not extremely well.
With the no longer produced and only to lovers prices available TDK SA or SAX cartridge is no match for the Maxell cassette on sound quality. I have to compare on a Sony Walkman Professional with the different for the two cassettes settings - Maxell UR 90 on 'Standard I', TDK IECII / TypeII SA 90 on 'CrO2 II' - carried out: the difference in sound volume and low noise is clear.
Also in the mechanics enough the Maxell cassette at the TDK-quality does not come - especially at the beginning of the cassette where the Maxell cassette runs pretty lax and easily tangled if you do not carefully pulls taut. Despite these concessions, the cassette is still satisfactory to good, and of course you can be glad that there still are cassettes at an acceptable price for the owner of a tape recorder.
