This box plus alternative outlet, instrumental versions allows us to take notice of a new stereo mix. Anecdotally, Briaw Wilson, a deaf ear in 1966 had mixed this album in mono. This new mix is welcome because it allows us to discover new subtleties in an album already finesse and rebound, a record that surpasses it in my opinion too overused Sgt Pepper Beatles.
Art and commerce do not always mix. At the Pet Sounds sessions, Brian Wilson recorded to hurry an acoustic concert of the Beach Boys in their studio. Friends of applause was then added and the disc recorded and mixed in less than a week, called "Beach Boys Party", was released in selling more than "Pet Sounds". What a disappointment for the poor Brian!
