I have added myself why more than 10 years ago, an electric grinder for knives Company Graef. This unit had a total of 6 wells to sharpen a knife blade from both sides, and finally subtract two stages. Our knives were so sharp again wonderful. The unit, however, was relatively large, had to the socket and before I had sufficiently often out a knife through all six wells, took several minutes per blade. The unit I have therefore only dusted off every couple of months (following appropriate instructions to my wife at the latest), and then to sacrifice half an hour for a sharpening our knives. Unfortunately, my wife was not willing to take the trouble to be, although it is much more common than I in the kitchen and used our knives correspondingly more often.
A few months ago the sander Company Graef was defective, so that demand existed for a new acquisition. Based on the above experiences I have held out for a device that electrically raises one hand, but on the other hand can be used conveniently as a sharpening steel. My hopes that I had put in the device Elsharp Against this background, actually met. On one hand, our knives are sharp in the same way as when Graef knife grinder. On the other hand it must not be connected to an electrical outlet for sharpening. I can take the Elsharp device like a sharpener in one hand and in order subsequently to sharpen a knife in the other this. Since the Elsharp device takes up little space, we have also asked the rather small associated charging station on our kitchen work surface, so that Elsharp can be taken immediately and used when needed. At least initially, even my wife Elsharp has used. Meanwhile, however, I have the suspicion that they yet again alone leaves me sharpening ;-).
Elsharp has a removable cap, so to grind even scissors with a provided cap can, but what I have not yet tried. After removing the cap of the grinding pin can be changed. There are different grinding bits for different purposes. In practice, however, I use only one of the grinding points, as the replacement of a grinding pin just yet again takes time, even if the other abrasive inserts are easily accessible housed in the charging station. So far, I could not detect any noticeable wear and tear on my favorite grinding applications. A nice detail is a magnetic plate, hanging on the emergent swarf remains and can be cleaned after removing the cap.
